Gordywill Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Hello all, just joined the forum so a bit fingers and thumbs. Now ive played IL-2 before and just couldn,t get on with it for some reason, however, just lately ive been looking for something other than CFS3 which I have enjoyed for a number of years, despite it,s shortcomings. And I downloaded the Steam version of IL-2 1946 and once i,d gotten the hang of things it,s not bad at all, especially when I realized I could run it in 1920x1080! That step up in resolution makes all the difference. I,m running Win 7 x64 with 6Gb Ram, Intel quadcore chip, (can,t remember which one but it does the job nicely) Nvidia GTX260 which seems to be doing ok. And a Saitek Cyborg Evo Wireless. I could do with a manual for 1946, and any hints and tips you can give me in the right direction I would be most grateful for. Ive been on flight sims for years, from F19 and Birds of Prey for Amiga, then on to SDOE which at the time I enjoyed, so I,m no newbie exactly but, judging by the conversations, ive a lot to learn!! Thanks for listening. Gordywill.
DD_Arthur Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Hello Gordy. CFS3 eh? Now that was a thing . By some strange cosmic worm hole in the internet you have materialised onto the general discussion board of IL2 Battle of Stalingrad which is the successor to er...the successor to IL2 1946....if you see what I mean? Although I'm sure its possible to get some decent advice about 1946 here, I can't help thinking you might be better off looking at these boards for advice; http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?f=98 Good luck with IL2 1946. It was a great game for its time and the reason many of us are still here. 2
BlitzPig_EL Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Well sir, you have the wrong forum. Sorry to say. This is the forum for the new series, IL2 Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow, and soon, Battle of Kuban. It's a completely different game by a different development team. Here is the forum you are looking for... http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?f=98 It's not responding for me right now, but it is still there and is the official forum for the old game, that you have. Good luck. 1

BP_Lizard Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 After so many years, I've reinstalled 1946 and was pleasantly surprised how good it turned out at its modded state. I applied the VP Mod from the SAS forum. Huge improvement on the texture and overall appearance. I also installed the cockpit mod which greatly enhanced the in-cockpit experience. Lots of new aircrafts that weren't available when I left the sim 10 years ago. Couple of days ago, I stumbled upon a website that made the SB2C Helldiver flyable. It has become one of my favorite rides. I fly 1946 mainly for the Pacific theater. Scratches the itch while waiting for BoP. 1
Solo- Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 (edited) Here's another good skin site for IL2 1946: https://www.asisbiz.com/il2.html P.S. - As to "wrong forum" reply: read the Forum heading - "Other 1C Game Studios Games" "Discussion about the classic series IL-2 Sturmovik, IL-2:COD and Rise of Flight" Plenty of us still playing IL2 1946 on Hyperlobby.......
