Taxi and take off with multiple planes

Hi gents,

This post is for Gambit21 and Coconut but also for everyone else who may have difficulties making more than one or two planes taxi and take off together.

I suspect that the issues you are running into are related to the taxi points in the Fakefield -> Edit Chart menu.

You need to leave enough room between the end of the runway and the takeoff point to fit all the planes you want to take off together. Once the last plane arrives into position and closes its canopy the flight leader will take off. This is an important detail because the last plane is usually really slow in arriving to the right spot at the end of the queue, and sometimes has to inch forward a few times to finally trigger the flight leader to take off.

Regarding taxiing, planes only advance to the next taxi point once the plane ahead has left it. I would recommend putting an intermediate number of taxipoints, not too few so it will look weird and take too long, and not too many so they are all on top of each other and braking constantly.

I have attached an unfinished mission that already has a taxi sequence for 6 Yak1b.

Please let me know if that helped, or if your problem is not related.

I'll look at my points Monkey - thank you.

Hope it's as simple as that - the 3rd plane inches forward forever and never reaches it's position in my mission.

Thank you.

My observations are that the final take off VPP taxi point is used as base point for runway position. E.g. if you have 2 planes they will be pushed forward slightly, if you have 4 - they will be pushed even more forward so that the last plane is somewhere around the final VPP taxi point. From my experience, what really helps is to put last taxi point (just before take off point) in the same orientation and direction as the runway - this seems to avoid various issues with planes getting stuck etc. Although there is still that bug where more than 3 plane formations are having hard time getting in the take off position.

Anther tip: Since the patch that overhauled ground physics - you can now control the speed the planes will taxi at. The distance between taxi waypoints now define their taxi speed. So if you want for them to proceed slowly - add more taxi waypoints, if you want them to go faster - try to keep them as spaced as possible.
