DD_Arthur Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Been waiting for confirmation but it appears that Robert Smith, known on the UbiSoft IL2 forums as Taildrag, died last Wednesday, 7th. December at the White River medical centre, Batesville, Arkansas. He was 91. He had an unusual military career and Bob saw action in the Pacific during the closing months of WW2 flying Marine Corp. F4U Corsairs before going on to become a commercial pilot for nearly forty years. He was a true gentleman and it was an honour to fly with him in IL2. May he rest in peace now with Rose, his beloved wife of fifty-eight years. 3
VBF-12_Stele Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 S! RIP. I remember him indirectly. Thought it was great he was so active.
Lusekofte Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 RIP, he had a interesting life. I seen the nick around but never knew him. Thanks for the information
kissklas Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I never knew Taildrag, but a community member lost is always sad.It never ceases to amaze me how diverse this community is. Young and old, gamers, pilots and enthusiasts from all corners of the world. Some remember the war, while others might just be old enough to remember the millennium.I hope that this community grows and thrives, and that it will be here for us all to grow old in.My condolences to his family and those who knew him.Best, Klas 2
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 R.I.P and fair winds on the journey
oneeyeddog Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 My condolences to his Family and Friends. So sad to see Gentlemen who served during World War 2 passing away.
Lusekofte Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Young and old, gamers, pilots and enthusiasts from all corners of the world. This is more a fact within the IL 2 1946 community. Many do not upgrade their pc so they stick to what they know. The community in SAS got this variety and there are modders elsewhere over 70 years old
Trident_109 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Awww... I remember Taildrag. I forgot he was as old as he was. He sure had the enthusiasm of one much younger. Thank you Sir and Rest well. You earned it.
