in-flight map

I am new to the game I am in the process of learning how to navigate in the maps.

When I press O I get the in-flight map but I cannot see my own cockpit!

Is there a way to make a small pop-up map or a semi-transparent map so I can have the mapo and the cockpit at the same time?  :)

Thanks

I think it's "m" by default (at least that's what Iäve got it set to), but its "utility" may be limited... Personally I prefer the briefing map option - brings a sense of danger to looking at the map! (If you're of a nervous disposition, you can always put on auto-level while you look at it...)

"M" map is more useful for one that play in Normal mode with all kind of HUD on, act more like a "GPS" screen than a map - lake details for "IFRR" navigation.

Is the size of "m" map adjustable? In config or elsewhere?

Cibule - yes, press M again.

Spartan - the in cockpit M map is available in Normal mode only. In Expert mode you need to press O. The reason is that the Normal map is kinda zoomed in to your position so makes navigation too easy.

Yes I know that option. But I mean even more i.e. accross the whole screen. The map is transparent so it would make sense.

Thanks. Now I understand why. However, am I the only one that thinks that a minimap and/or a transpatent map like in the old Il2 1946 would be a great a necessary addition to the sim?

No, no 1946 or RoF map resizing option.

Small map in BoS was done to look "modern" like in FarCry games, that kneeboard from old games will looks antiquated for new players.  :)

NobbyNobbs' planning tool is awsome. I have been fiddling around with all above mentioned options plus one more for some months. None of them suits me. My 10 inches' tablet is too small. Laptop is too big and there is no space for it in my cockpit :-)

There is a solution I would love most but it doesn´t work so far. My second monitor would be perfect to display the map. But the game doesn´t like when I mess around with mouse in the map on that second monitor and always freezes down after a couple of minutes. And it is useless if one cannot drag the map inflight.

How about a printed map? I have not found any. A large one that could be folded and fasten to knee :-)

With VR in mind, a virtual and realist virtual kneebord representation in the cockpit would be great!!

I actually use the full screen map in the old Il-2.

In some servers when I fly if I press O I get the map but I see the icon of my plane and I just hate that because it takes all the navegation skills out. The problem comes whe I press H to hide the icons and then back in the cockpit I cannot see my bottom-left-handside compass! (The plane one is just to hard to see).

Is there a way to avoid icons in the map but at the same time keep the compass? :(

There are a few printable map options

would it not be possible to print out the flight planned map after using NobbyNobs map tools?

Cheers Dakpilot

I tried this Dak but it will only let me print the entire map, not just the small section for a particular sortie. If someone has found a way I would love to know how.

Use windows snipping tool, save and print

Just a quick thought off top of my head
