TempestV Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 I'm going to pick up Battle of Moscow and am curious - does the installation process ask you to merge the 2 games? I would like everything access as it is now with BoS. i.e. one icon to start the sim and another icon to start the editor (as it is now on my desktop). I own the non-STEAM version of BoS.
Nil Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 If you buy BOM, you will have nothing else to install, and you will see that aircraft from BOM are unlocked automatically; you will have nothing to do.
No601_Swallow Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) As I understand it, BOM (and all updates) simply add features (maps, aircraft, etc) to the single core game. Thus, even if you haven't bought, say, the Yak 1B, it's still in your game (and you'll still be able to encounter it in missions, etc) - you just won't be able to fly it. I assume the same is true for the maps. They're "there" but you won't have access to them until you hand over the moolah. So, to answer your question, your single icon, installation folder, etc, won't change! Edit: D'oh! Beaten to it by "Quick-draw" Nils! Edited December 12, 2016 by No601_Swallow
TempestV Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 Okay got it-Thank You both for your prompt response.
Finkeren Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Basically: Don't think of BoS/BoM/BoK as separate games, they are different parts of the same game, all of which is installed on your pc. By buying BoS, you essentially buy access to the "BoS part" of the game. 1
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Eagerly awaiting for the chance to merge with BoRaR ! Battle of Reno Air Races :-)
Czar66 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) There are no more than 1 game here. You can call it 'BoX' or Il-2 Sturmovik itself, whatever name you want. You only has access to it if you buy one of the 'Battle packs, BoS, BoM or BoK (when released). You will only have the content of the Battle Pack(s) you bought to fly over (maps) or inside (planes), but able to fly against every aircraft released yet, and in multiplayer any map the server have enabled without restriction. There is no merging files/installations. Your account is the one telling the server what you have by product key activation. Edit: crap, 3 day old cold thread, I haven't seen that, sorry. Edited December 15, 2016 by Czar66

Habu Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 No, you can use all the plane where you want. But some planes which are not present at the release of BoS where not present in the original campaign. But as they were in Stalingrad battle, even if you buy it with BoM, devs add the plane in the BoS campaign. So you can use the planes in campaign if there were present in the real battle. In multiplayer, it's the mission builder which choose which plane he want to use in his mission.
cgagan Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Hello, just to revive the topic with the "idiot's question of the day": I initially bought and installed BOS and then BOM, both of which are separate installations in my HD. Now, playing the BOM, I see all campaigns and other related staff from BOS included; so, I gather I can remove BOS from my HD? I hesitate, in case I miss something and I destroy my set up. Many thanks for any answer,

Many thanks for any answer, Yes you can delete one of your installations if both games are linked to the same Great Battles account. The Great Battles account is that account you use to login here to access the store: https://il2sturmovik.com/account/login/?next=/ 1
