Best way to port an install ?

Since I have a miserable internet conection at home, in the past I have installed il-2 BoS in my laptop from a fast web access point and then:

 

1) Started the installer at my home desktop, and as it started to D/L stuff, I interrupted the install and;

2) Dropped the 1C/777 folder from my laptop install, overwriting anything that the installer might have already placed at the desktop install folder;

3) restart the il-2

 

Recently I tried this technique but it didn't work ?  There is always an error message about some MS component when I start il-2

 

Any suggestions / hints really appreciated :-)

As you have done it, but you need to install Visual Studio 4 from a directory inside your current installation.
