How do you play multiplayer?

So far I just take off looking for trouble on my own , usually in a P40, which means if I encounter a 109 and he sees me, Im in trouble.

 

Would prefer to fly with a wingman, or be a wingman, or cover bombers , but dont know how to approach this.

The best thing to do would be to join a virtual squadron. If you prefer the P40 you ought to look for a squadron that generally flies for the VVS. You also should download teamspeak, it's free!

So, say you were in Syndicate squadron, you would log onto teamspeak, go to the the squadron teamspeak room and see who from the squadron was flying and what server we were on. Then you would be in "radio " contact with team mates. I love to fly the IL2 and several of us are ground pounders. We would love to have someone fly cover for us.

also, u can ask in chat once u jump on a MP server,  almost always u can can find someone to pair up with/go after same objective etc, and as above, don't be shy

I run primarily Ground Attack/Low altitude bombing missions as VVS.

 

I ask in chat for escorts when I remember to, but otherwise I go low and fast and drop large bombs so I can head back home fast.

 

I'll only do high altitude bombing if I have squadmates to escort me or multiple PE-2s to fly a formation.

 

I rarely fly fighters, and will only do so when I can fly with squadmates.

 

Axis always has 3+ fighters over central target zones, so I'd rather get torn up after taking out an objective than getting multi-teamed in a fighter and being no help to the team at all.

 

The Axis fighters are a confusing bunch. They always fly high above objectives, so I can always destroy something before they pounce. You think they'd wise up and patrol on the VVS side of their objectives so they can destroy attack planes/bombers BEFORE they get to target and destroy something.
