Finkeren Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) Someone who's doing Durand's "white 11" sharkmouth? I always found it to be one of the most visually striking sharkmouth in Soviet service. (Don't pay attention to the label of Yak-1M) Edited December 5, 2016 by Finkeren 3
NN_Fahrenheit Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Indeed, Roland de La Poype had one too. In fact, the picture above is one of de La Poype's Yak-1b (painted by Marcellin in May 1943, the same than the Flying Tigers') Albert Durand's shark mouth is a bit different :
Finkeren Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Ok thanks for that info De La Poype's is the one I'd like to see.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) I'm doing one based on Red 47. There is also a Red 24 with similar marking. I have an image but no picture which is supposed to be around. If anyone has a picture I would love to see it. I think this may be the two with Red 24 in the background but can't be sure: EDIT: lol, just saw the post above. Oh well...they will be different. Edited December 5, 2016 by 12.OIAE_Stick-95

707shap_Srbin Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) Guys, its is rather strange to see so many shades of green and black. 1941-1943 - for mixed construction - AMT-4 green + AMT-6 black, and AMT-7 Blue for undersurfaces. If aircrafts was all-metal, used special colors, with slightly different color. But it is impossible to have two shades of green on one aircraft. Also, note, there is no braun color in VVS. 1943-1945 - for mixed construction AMT-11 + AMT12 + AMT-7 (for fighters) or AMT-1+AMT-7+AMT-11 + AMT-7 (for assaults and bombers), or for metal aircrafts (such as Pe-2, for example) - their analogs. Again, no any braun or two different shades of green. VVS color swatch for Photoshop. There was no "sand" camouflage, and AMT-1 sand-broun was used only on assaults/bombers as one of 3 uppersurface colors. It was NOT used on fighters. Again this bullsh#t colors from crappy Eduard. Seems, their fantasy goes far beyound Luftwaffe colors 1941-43: 1943-45 (NKAP-43 order) Edited December 6, 2016 by I./ZG1_Panzerbar 5
=38=Tatarenko Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Thanks panzerbaer. I'm using the AMT's from the template to keep them in line with the stock paintjobs.
707shap_Srbin Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Developer's palette was already corrected a little bit (Luftwaffe part - RLM78, RLM76 and RLM02 is example), so I think green on Pe-2 and green on Yak-1 must be considered as two a little bit different shades. So, light corrections could be discussed. 2
707shap_Srbin Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 To avoid any conflicts, I'm currently working on "Za Nikolaya" , Merkulov's Yak-7B as a Yak-1B. Yakdriver Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) Guys, its is rather strange to see so many shades of green and black. when it comes to profiles, as you say ... one can see many funky designs, especially color-wise. (i personally am in love with AMT-4... pure green, perfect green, ah! wonderfull!) But when it comes to the layout of the Paintjob, the "research" done by others is just as confusing. So what i personally do... i take my gut feeling and if it seems credible to me, it is valid as a depiction. Is beautiful and not pink and hello kitty? gets my attention. next candidate - chosen for colors, layout and logos, not because it matches the "official propaganda documentation" because when it comes to Painting planes... Nobody is right. Everybody is wrong. Edited December 6, 2016 by Yakdriver 2
=38=Tatarenko Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) It is Yak-7B late, spring-summer 1944. Yes I know. That's why I wrote "I'm currently working on "Za Nikolaya" , Merkulov's Yak-7B as a Yak-1B." Anyway, it's finished now and posted above. And from my source the scheme is from Sept 1943.
