Noxos Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) Pretty much what it says on the tin. I have it set to low in the interest of having the maximum FPS but will that hamper spotting ability? Edited December 4, 2016 by Noxos
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) I actually have mine at no AA, HDR and SSAO also off, because I noticed I can more easily glimpse enemy aircraft in the distance, at least with my cheap 21" LED monitor... Edited December 4, 2016 by Turkeys-jcomm
216th_Jordan Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Not really, but sometimes smoother frames help with spotting. I found that HDR and SSAO take away from spotting though.
Y29.Layin_Scunion Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I don't think it does to the point of being at a big disadvantage. I've played on both low and ultra and everything in between...didn't notice much difference with spotting. The most noticeable thing was tracking a target at long distance (at the point you're unable to identify). It's hard to track. A huge help is having a bigger monitor. I used to play on a 19" and now play on a 27". World of difference.
coconut Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Lowering terrain quality makes it easier to spot planes from above. Same thing for following planes in front of clouds when you lower cloud quality: the outline artifacts get more noticeable.

What is in contrast helping a lot with spotting is setting up your monitor properly. thats a start to get it calibrated: http://www.monitorsetup.com/ This is the manual for the page: http://img.caliprint.net/ms/mscdoc.pdf Edited December 5, 2016 by 216th_Jordan
