Shatter12 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 I usually have between 2-4MB/s download speed for games such as WT, AW and DCS: World, but I am struggling to even get past the 200KB/s mark. Anyone have any clues as to why? I am not running any background tasks either.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 I sometimes get really bad speeds for this game but it normally is fine. I guess it is to do with your location and or how many others are downloading at the same time

No_85_Gramps Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I'm the only one using the internet at the moment. He's talking about other people d/l at the same time you are, sometimes slowing things down, not the number of people using the internet at your location.
216th_Jordan Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Did you check 'prefer web distribution'? That normally helps when speeds are slow.
Jade_Monkey Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Did you close all the porn downloads from eMule?
IRRE_Centx Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) And that's the only good argument to transfer BoS on Steam... at least you get the download server of Steam! It boosted my download speed from 50 Ko/s to 500 Ko/s... which is my max download speed on my crap connexion (before anybody asks: yes I still do all my purchases directly on il-2 website, I don't give any money to Steam!) Dave Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Capture.PNG I usually have between 2-4MB/s download speed for games such as WT, AW and DCS: World, but I am struggling to even get past the 200KB/s mark. Anyone have any clues as to why? I am not running any background tasks either. Wow 70k. I'm get about 15kb/s. To rule out iiNet as the cause I just downloaded a large file from my Palo Alto server at around 15Mb/s. Why are updates so painfully slow?
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 hmmmas its peer to peer might be the issuei chose web distribution and recent patch download @ 1.24M/sec
Feathered_IV Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Is Prefer Web Distribution actually some sort of torrent method, or is it a download from a server? The phrase is about as revealing as an el Qaida swimsuit calendar. 71kbs...
Dave Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Is Prefer Web Distribution actually some sort of torrent method, or is it a download from a server? The phrase is about as revealing as an el Qaida swimsuit calendar. 71kbs... Pretty sure its the other way around. Web distribution uses HTTP to download update files (in a single HTTP connection) from a server on AWS. The alternative (and default) is to use P2P where the chunks are seeded by others who have already downloaded parts of the update.
