Craterman Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Hello! I'm new to BOS. I used to make IL2 SP missions back in the day and had a blast with them. I am trying to learn the BOS mission editor, it seems more powerful but completely alien to the old version. Anyway, I cannot keep the smoke effect going. I can get it started, but it lasts about 5 seconds and then stops. I tried putting in a stop command effect in also, but it makes no difference. I am using a mission begin, with a timer (2 seconds) and then a command effect. Any suggestions?
Urra Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 You would need to start and then stop it again every 10 seconds using the respective commands. It is currently very heavy on CPU resources. I would wait a week or two for dx11 to see less impact in missions.

Urra Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 No problem, one thing that I learned the hard way was that complex triggers use constant internet bandwidth which is otherwise used to add more player aircraft, so I use them sparingly if at all. 1

Way more complex that the old IL2, but it looks likes there's a pretty good trade off. Thanks for the manual Jim, I didn't even know that thing existed. Jade is that a custom effect village smoke? I throw than in a see what happens.
Habu Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I hope that they change the way it works. I asked the dev to change it. It will be easier to manage the smoke effect, if it stop only when we use the stop command. Having a managment which is different from other effect is not user friendly.

I throw than in a see what happens. yes it's custom. I just noticed that the complex trigger is being filtered for a single side (axis i think). Make sure to change that to your mission, and also the name of the plane has to be set to "Player". If your plane is named something else you can adapt this.
