IvanDolvich Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Hi, I have problems taking off in the PE-2 Ser.35. I am using no flaps and around 80% mixture. I carry 400l of fuel and two 500kg bombs. The opening of the radiators is 100%, but I still barely can manage to reach around 100-120 km/h and then the runway ends. This is especially the problem on the TAW server. In quick-missions I manage the take off. Can you give me some advice?
Shepherd Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Check Prop RPM. Needs to be adjusted manually in this type of aircraft
IvanDolvich Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 RPMs rise when I increase throttle. Can I do this manually? Yesterday I tried fiddling around with manual RPMs/prop pitch in Quickmission. I could do that for the 109 but for the PE-2 it did not seem to work. Do you know how it is caleld in the mapping section?
Shepherd Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 If I remember correctly it was a different key than for 109. Can't check this right now. Have a look at the key settings...
IvanDolvich Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 Alright, thanks for your help. RPMs can be controlled by the "Propellers:high pitch" and "Propellers:low pitch" mappings. This seems to raise and lower RPMs. I will test it later and report back.
216th_Jordan Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) it take like 1 min to reach 100% yep. See here also: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/26404-question-rpm-pe-2/ What probably happens in your case is the following: When you set RPM via RPM-control, you do not directly set a RPM but a desired RPM. If your engines throttle is too low this RPM will not be reached. Once you increase throttle the RPM will rise until enough power is reached to achieve the desired RPM. The RPM governor will then try to keep the engine running at the desired RPM. Maximum takeoff RPM is 2700 for Pe-2, so you can easily compare your results. Edited December 1, 2016 by 216th_Jordan
IvanDolvich Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 It worked. Thank you all for your help. Much appreciated
