BlitzvogelMcpeek78 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 If any of you have seen Star Citizen or played it. You will understand the nature of my question. I sure would like to hear more from my wing men, my Squadron Commander BETTER RADIO COMMANDS!. It would be nice to have briefings before missions and have Intelligence Briefings with a Intelligence Officer. Talk over with maps the enemy's Objective and known intentions. But it seem as if many games over the years have changed while Flight Sims have just stayed the same in this regard. But this is not Historical. It would be nice to have Jimmy Thatch give you a lecture on how to do the Thatch weave or Clair Chennault lecture you on the " Zero" er ah KI-43 before you take off. Even more movies would be nice. The Text is 20 years old. Even if they just played historical films that you could skip if you liked it would be so much more immersive & a great improvement. It would really help to keep history alive if small Documentary clips and moving maps were placed along the way throughout a Campaign teaching the youth what really happened on both sides. Does anyone else feel this way? Am I asking too much? How much more would this tax the game memory, game performances or the developers time/ money spectrum? Because this could be why its not there?! Nocke Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 I'd say its a small Team with limited resources, and they are focusing on getting the technical base right. Thats also what is making this SIM so great - the technical credibility and amount of details. I am happy they are not wasting energy on too much storytelling - we are creating the stories ourselves using the marvelous machinery they are creating...
Urra Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Give me Star Citizen's budget and you can have whatever you want. Jason Something in me cringes about that, but it works, so that's all that counts right? Like selling expensive chocolates individually to a waiting chocoholic, telling him the cheap boxed set he's been wait for will be ready the next hour. But then it's delayed because you will add another delicious flavor to the box.

Your Friend and fellow Flight Simmer. Isaac Mcpeek of Marietta Ohio Most of the things you've mentioned could be done by the community and doesn't need any involvement of the developers. The mission editor allows you to add movies and animated briefings before the start of a mission. Or you can add additional radio messages. As an example what's already possible in the game take a look at the missions by Veteran. But of course this requires knowledge of video and sound editing and the necessary software. I think that's the main reason why few mission builders have so far used these options. Edited November 27, 2016 by Juri_JS
wtornado Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 If anyone plays SC or has been following what has been going on they had a mega special this week selling different ships every day. They also had incredible promo videos about the ships and game it was incredible. You can upgrade your ship and trade it in an a better one I found that idea wonderful. The first parts of Squadron 42 and Arena should be released by Christmas for those who have it. Jason is right CIG budget is incredible and hiring all the old CryTec employees becuase the Cryengine company developers could not pay their salary really move game development along considerably. If you have been following this for the past few years it is pretty amazing but not talked about much
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Keep in mind that they have a crowd funded budget exceeding $65 million and at least 6 or 7 development studios cranking out all kinds of stuff on all kinds of different areas of the game. What Chris Roberts has proposed has ended up being appealing to large numbers of PC gamers AND from people who are willing to buy $200 ships in the form of additional crowdfunding. Some people in the StarCitizen community have paid for an individual ship in excess of what it costs to buy IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad AND Battle of Moscow Premium editions (that's 20 aircraft).

Correction: Some people have paid for an individual ship in excess of what it costs to buy Il-2: Battle of Stalingrad AND Battle of Moscow Premium editions, a computer to run the game on top settings, all peripherals including joystick, pedals etc, Track IR and a car to carry it all in.
76IAP-Black Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Im still surprised and happy with what this small Team comes up for us. This Sim is still WIP and is constantly expanding, so where is the Problem? It takes its time
bald_eagle Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Give me Star Citizen's budget and you can have whatever you want. Jason BOS and Star citizen where announced more or less at the same time(2011). You are close to the second main extension of a mature product. They are at alpha stage. Hunger is a great motivator! 2

VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 OK, trying to hack into SC's account to get you that budget Jason. Will get back to you.

Ok. True! I was trying not to over do it
Gambit21 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 A friends' boss has spent over 10K - that was as of 6 months ago.
Feathered_IV Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) From a players perspective, of all the flight sims I have owned in the last ten years, the BoS series has my least favourite radio commands and voice scripting. The actors voices are fine, it's just the robotic phrases and extreme repetition that tend to make the experience unenjoyable. Perhaps it was one of those elements that Albert originally directed and might get changed later on so that it is more in the Spirit of 1946. One can only hope! Gambit21 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 They were good, except for the Japanese scream...why only the Japanese had this blood curdling scream is something I always wondered.
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Probably someone responsible watched way too much Kurosawa.
