glenneb1 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Hi All, Its been some years since I last played IL-2 1946. I am trying to connect using HyperLobby which all works fine until it hands me to the game. When IL-2 1946 opens (v4.12.2m), I get a timeout error message saying it cant connect to the server. I have enabled in/out windows firewall for both the game and HyperLobby. Ive read the discussion threads but nothing seems to work. Can anyone assist me here? Bought the joystick and all, keen to get in there! Thanks
BlitzPig_EL Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Wrong forum sir. This is for the new IL2, not IL2 1946. Here is where you need to go... http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?f=98
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Not sure what's going on there. You get a timeout when in-game or in HyperLobby? I was having trouble figuring out for sure which one it was. BTW: This is the forum for the next generation version of IL-2 that started with IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad. It's a whole new ballgame with the series!
glenneb1 Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 Thanks guys, will post there. I meant in game. So I can see the servers in Hyperlobby, but when I attempt to connect it takes me to the game where it then comes up with the timeout message. I actually have Battle of Stalingrad but Im a bit put off by the fact the user is locked into the cockpit. Im a bit of a rookie, so I enjoy it more when the view is full screen free of obstructions with the red/blue arrows indicating enemy/friendlies. Is this 'easy' style possible in the newest edition? If so, I will head there. G

It did come up in one of the last Q&A sessions and it is something they might do in the future but its not in the immediate roadmap. I'd encourage you to try and get into it with the cockpit view. I started off where you did as well but I have to say that flying inside the cockpit, though more challenging, is also more rewarding and more immersive overall. What IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad has over the old one (or until more recently) is the ability to map keys so you can not just look all around but move your view forward or to the side avoiding a lot of the cockpit obstructions. In Normal mode you have aircraft icons which also help with recognition and getting into the air combat scene.
