Lt_Tomonaga Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 After recent updates, does the game have a decent campaign/career system or are we still primarily multiplayer?I haven't played in over a year because I was disappointed by the multiplayer experience.
Finkeren Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 No, it's still not "good" as a proper campaign. But if you don't expect a historical campaign and take the missions for what they are, they are actually fairly good and certainly a lot better and more varied than they were when BoS first launched. Also, a completely new career mode similar to the Rise of Flight career is in the works for BoK and will also be developed for BoM and BoS and will be available to people who own BoM/BoS, even if they don't have BoK. The career mode will be ready sometime in the second half of 2017.
Cybermat47 Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Yep, we do, it's called PWCG http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/24312-pwcg-unified-212-available/page-1
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Plus, big changes are coming next year with IL-2: Battle of Kuban that will retroactively affect BoM and BoS with a Rise of Flight style campaign generator.
SCG_motoadve Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 PWCG is very good, and a new campaign system is welcomed. But if AI is not fixed, no matter how good of a campaign, it wiull ruin immersion (which it does for me with PWCG unfortunatelly)
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) I've been playing PWCG and the stock campaigns quite a bit. PWCG works well for some things (like knowing your team mates names and being assigned to a particular unit etc) but the interface can be glitchy and there are anomalies like artillery set up in a river etc. It has the makings of a good system and I think Pat has done a fantastic job already but it's not quite there for me yet.The stock campaigns are less immersive in that you can fly an IL-2 from one base one day the a Messerschmitt for the other side the next. However I find the missions themselves are largely good, although the artillery attack ones are a bit too easy - loads of targets in a row. Some of the missions in the stock campaign (Moscow) that I've been playing recently have been amazing. Yesterday for example during an IL-2 attack on artillery I felt that I was hanging around a little too long and sure enough two Messers turned up. We headed home and at several points I was flying between trees up a woodland road in order to stay low and safe. It was a fantastic experience and all three of us made it back in spite of being a bit shot up. In a mission today it all went wonderfully and I attacked the target and a passing convoy and escaped home with just a few small calibre bullet holes then RIGHT at the moment my wheels touched down a Ju88 I hadn't even seen bombed my base from high altitude and I ended up on my nose.
