=SqSq=Sulaco Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I saw this posted over on the DCS forums and figured that since we have a Spit to look forward to on the horizon I would post it here too. This is a really incredible short that I recommend watching through to the end, very moving and very, very cool. Who knew a Spitfire could make it all the way to Berlin! 9
Finkeren Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I saw it a couple years ago. The amazing thing to me is, that there still might be so much valuable footage hidden away in personal possession.
Bando Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I had seen it before on these forums, but it's always a joy to watch it again.
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 22, 2016 1CGS Posted November 22, 2016 Great film indeed. Funny to see that they were arguing about flight models even back then (the argument he got into about whether or not a Spitfire could fly to Berlin and back). 1

HBPencil Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) A great vid indeed, I haven't watched this since I made a '46 mod skin of this aircraft back in the day. Who knew a Spitfire could make it all the way to Berlin! Not many knew (or know) but the first two PR Type D started reaching Berlin (and even further) in October 1940 although it was in early '41 that the regular production Type D (a.k.a PR.IV) entered service. unreasonable Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Thanks for the re-post: I had not seen this before - wonderful short film.
BlitzvogelMcpeek78 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I honestly think these type of pilots did and do not get enough recognition even today! Everybody loves the fighter pilots. Yet Recon is probably the most important element in warfare period. Without excellent information YOU ARE BLIND! And dangerously open to enemy exploitation. It would be nice to see just a few RECON missions added to BOS, BOM, BOK. Talk about BRAVE!!! All the way to berlin with no guns, no help, and not even any armor! Bet his navigation skills & pilotage skills are bar none excellent. I am a real pilot and all I got to say is WOW! Let me say that backwards WOW! About the closest I probably ever get to the real spitfire is my little Sonerai. VW powered taildragger but still a blast to fly!
