NETSCAPE Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I just got my tracking setup. I first tried it with DiRT Rally and after 15 or 20 minutes of messing around got it to feel pretty nice in game, granted some axis of movement are limited by the game. However in IL2 BOS I am having a hell of a time. For starters I basically can't look down. Take Stuka for example... I can't (95% of the time) look down at the bomb door with out the camera freaking out and either jumping left or right like a spaz (up to 90degrees even sometimes). This same effect happens seemingly randomly too, looking straight ahead, just starts spazzing out 5 or 10 degrees, looking behind sometimes same issue... It's impossible to look for ground targets because of this issue... issue seems to be like I'm "clipping" for lack of better word the cockpit or something. Looking around in the sky is OK sometimes, but still will randomly jump around-in it's current status it is unplayable.I have gone through my keybinds and deleted all previous controls for camera looking ect to rule that out as an issue... I have tried overly sensitive curves, tried dead zones in the curves ect... cam and hat are working great with other games and seems buttery smooth in dirt rally and eurotruck. Hopefully one of you opentrackers can help because I bought the track hat mainly for this game and rise of flight. Am I overlooking something in IL2 options? or in opentrack?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 It's an option, i'm in work so can't check it now, look for NZA somethig...
NETSCAPE Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 It's an option, i'm in work so can't check it now, look for NZA somethig... thanks but just looked through opentrack and IL2 options, didn't see anything containing NZA, hmm
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 thanks but just looked through opentrack and IL2 options, didn't see anything containing NZA, hmmThere were answers to this on this forum - search it. Btw i use old version ,new one is dumb down little- that is why i choosed good rather than better
No_85_Gramps Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Almost sounds like it is losing tracking points. In OT what are the point sizes of the LED's? Sometimes if they are too large you will lose tracking when the LED's overlap while moving. Also, to get 90 deg of pitch up and down the curve in the mapping needs to go to the 180 mark. If you can, please post a short video and/or a copy of your ini file. Are you using the hat or the clip? Edited November 21, 2016 by Gramps
NETSCAPE Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) I am using the hat with opentrack 1.2p4. I'm not sure what value is the point size but if it's the px that is displayed in realtime its anywhere from 2.10 to 3.80. Upon monitoring opentrack while in game using my second monitor I can look 180 back, 90 up and the LED crosses never touch each other (I did do it on purpose to see the effect though, and that's not my issue). My curves already go up to 180 indeedy. I will post more info tmro, gotta get some sleep. I did notice that despite the LED signal/tracking being ok, the graphic of the "hat" in opentrack accurately was depicting the same non-sense spazzing of my in-game view. Zygiert Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I'm having similiar problem with looking down in BOS, DCS, CloD. Using hattrack and opentrack. I had to rework pitch up and down axis. Up axis is linear, down axis linear but very very steep. Besides that I had to set some deadzone for all other axis, cause looking down seems to be processed a bit wrong to the open track. What is more, same options set in Opentrack works differently for every game.
=EXPEND=Dendro Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I remember mine had an issue where I could not look up 90 degrees, I think I had to download a newer/different version.
=EXPEND=Dendro Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Also....When you look up are you sure that all 3 led points are showing all the time? Make sure the peak of the cap does not hide the led on the top of the hat.
TP_Silk Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Have you tried moving your camera mounting point? I had a similar experience with tracking software when the clip was at desk level but was able to get it much better when mounted at the top of the screen.
kissklas Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Looking down occludes the lower diode if you are using clip. Set the pitch curve to be asymmetric, so that you have to look less downwards to get -90 degrees than up to get +90.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 This is it: Game protocol Settings below FreeTrack 2.0
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) The version that I use and it is great! Just unpack and load rof.ini settting and setup like on that image below http://www.filedropper.com/opentrack-win32-20140913 btw. remember to setup your cam from Cl-Eye test (comes with driver for Ps3 eye for windows - cl-eye-driver-5300341) S! No_85_Gramps Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) I am using the hat with opentrack 1.2p4. Okay, that is the Trackhat version of Opentrack. Opentrack itself is up to version 2.3. I would imagine they operate the same, the author develops both programs. Edit: Just took a look at the Trackhat software. It is specifically designed to be used with a 3 point clip or hat. More like Opentrack Light. Edited November 22, 2016 by Gramps
NETSCAPE Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Also....When you look up are you sure that all 3 led points are showing all the time? Make sure the peak of the cap does not hide the led on the top of the hat. Yes my leds are fine. Looking up is the least problematic. Have you tried moving your camera mounting point? I had a similar experience with tracking software when the clip was at desk level but was able to get it much better when mounted at the top of the screen. I game using a old VIZIO TV that is...well...massive 37" diagonal. So it's sitting higher than head level, slightly angled downwards . Before I adjusted the proper settings in CL eye test I just monitored the cam to make sure I got it nice and centered before securing it. (i did a sweet duct tape job LOL) ---------------------------------- THANKS 307_TOMCAT. I will try that out and come back with a report!!!
NETSCAPE Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Ok well I tried that older version. Lots of things were worse. Went back to the one I started out on. Tried holding my hat close and far away and moved it with my hand... Quickly realized some differences in signal smoothness. So I adjusted threshold and min/max px size of point extraction. It's not perfect but seems I'm in the "playable" realm now. I pulled the LEDs out just a tad to get the angle of them pointing as straight as possible. Also wearing my hat pointing slightly pointing up off my head works better in regards to looking down. Which is actually good for me personally because I have extreme heat intolerance and don't like the warmth of a hat :D (this health issue is why i NEVER use headphones, hence not buying the clip and hat instead) Thanks for the help guys. Might have just been a case of noober mcnooberson! And for any of you AMD peasants like myself, the newer versions do use less cpu I noticed.

SCG_ErwinP Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I'm having some troubles with OpenTrack and 3 LED Clip TrackHat. I posted my question here, can you help me solve my problem?
