Hi Pat and everybody,

Just getting into PWCG and I notice there are lists of skins I don't have. Is there a skinpack for PWCG somewhere that I've missed?

Yes, it is possible. Best thing to do is to PM Pat and ask him how it's done. I don't have PWCG installed right now, so I can't tell you exactly how it's done.

Configure winter skins for the squadron.  A skin configuration is a an entry in the squadron file that defines the skin, the associated plane, and the begin and end dates.  If somebody can give me the following I can make the entries.

 

1. Squadron for skin

2. Skin file name 

3. Plane associated with skin

 

If the subject is limited to winter skins I don't need the dates.

I have downloaded a bunch of skins for use in IL-2 but where can I find these missing skins or how do I replace them with something else in PWCG?

Sorry to revive an old thread but I also have this same problem, I've searched and searched but can't find the skins.

Hello,

I´m trying to add individual skins to enemy planes (f.e. Moscow , 11th IAP , I16) by adding these lines to  "i16t24" file in the "configure" folder:

Attached is the missing skin report (pretty much the same as SkyKingRP above). I've downloaded the skin pack for PWCG, I own all the Great Battles titles + all collector planes so that can't be the reason for the missing skins, can it?

Hi Pat,

 

I've also got a similar missing skin report.

 

For me this is a new installation, with all skins installed from the skin pack on your website.

 

Are there additional entries in the configuration files that are 3rd party custom skins we need to download separate from the main PWCG skin pack?

Looking through the squadron jsons I see this is allocated to the 410th Bomber Group. Thinking this is an official skin I went looking through the skins gtp files and found that a a20b_skin_13.dds skin does exist. But I noticed the difference in case between the value for skin name in the json and the actual skin name and also json is _013 and skin itself is _13.

 

Is the skin name look up case sensitive? Even if not is the reference A20B_SKIN_013 correct? Should it be a20b_skin_13?

 

<edit> I found that if I copied the a20b_skin_13.dds file to the skins folder for the A20B and renamed it a20b_skin_013.dds that it was no longer reported as missing. However, changing the reference in the 410th BG.json to be A20B_SKIN_13 resulted in the skin still reported as missing. Ditto if I change the reference to a20b_skin_13. So it seems to be a case insensitive look up but need the missing skin in the actual skin folder and the json reference to match the skin file name (which is expected I guess). Also it seems like PWCG only checks the skins on startup so when fiddling restart it before doing skin analysis again or it will not pick up what you have done I think.

 

Not sure if that helps people until Pat gets time to figure out why the stock skin is not found.

So as I understand it category squadron skins are that all planes/pilots in the squadron will have that skin selected in the mission but still am confused about how PWCG searches for the allocated skin.

 

I renamed the A20 skin reference in the json to match what was in the relevant skins gtp file but it did not find it. However putting the skin in the skins folder and making it match the json reference worked. Is that a bug or does PWCG expect to find the skin in the \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\skins\A20B folder and that is the only place searched?

 

By copying skins from gtp files to the relevant aircraft skin folder I have resolved most of my missing skins reports but still have some odd ones I can't fix. See attached. Particularly odd are the missing skins for the P40E as I am getting FW190A3 skins reported as missing. These FW190A3 skins actually do exist in the \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\skins\FW190A3 folder but obviously not in the P40E1 folder. The other skins just don't exist either in the gtp files or in any skins folder even though I have downloaded and installed the PWCG skin pack (although admittedly it was a while ago so it may have been updated which I will check). Note that I have not gone into any squadron in any campaign and changed the skin setup.

How do you extract from gtp files?

Can't remember exactly where I got the tool but do a search for unGTP-IL2. Think there was posts somewhere here early on in IL2 BOS time. Be careful to work on copies of your game files though rather than possibly mucking up your install by making a mistake of some sort.

Two missing skin errors are generated by a typo in two json files. I/JG1 and I/JG26 have their plane type incorrectly set to p40e when it should be fw190a3.
