Is there a time limit for in game recordings?

Hi all,

I recently been recording with the built in game recorder but my videos it captures always cut out after 35-40 minutes, why is this? It still has the recording symbol but checking the video later everything after say 40 minutes is lost.

Is there a limit to the length? If so shouldn't the recording symbol stop and maybe notify you so you could start another to possibly join up later. I was so disappointed when I thought I captured something so cool only to find out it randomly ends after ~40 minutes.

Would like the developers to let us know as in the game in chat others were also curious and had no idea and wanted to know.

yes, it's 30min i think.

I use the F10 function on my Shadowplay to save my clips for upload.

Yeah I normally use playsTV which is very similar to Shadow play but it does give a 10fps reduction though I shouldn't complain since I get over 100fps in the air without recording I normally have 70fps on the ground even with a full server but with third party software recorder like PlaysTV it can drop a little bit more than I like so I was hoping to use the in game as it has no hit on FPS at all and the quality is amazing on playback but we won't always be able to watch them like after updates.

I did capture one that lasted 40 minutes so I'm still not sure how long it can record.

Its not a time limit but a size limit: once a track reaches 500mb it stops.

Is there a way to increase it? why such a small size?

I wouldn't quite call 500mb small but I agree that if the program can handle it, then it should be increased.

Man, I hate the way recordings are done in this game. I end up missing all the big moments and recording hours of nothing exciting happening...

Would love a prompt at the end of every sortie, "Do you want to save this track?" so I can just choose to save the exciting flights and trash the boring ones. Add an option to disable this since recording all the the time could cause a performance hit for some folks and there ya go.

yes it's called Shadow play record all you want.

Why not simply stop and restart your track perodically? It will get saved under a new track name every time.

My method is to use CTRL+R for in sim and shadoplay recording, I don't use auto in shadoplay cause it records all time, if possible use a second disk for shadoplay recordings so it won't harm main sim disk.

If during flying, sim recording stops, ALT-TAB to any program stop recording in shadowplay ALT-TAB to sim and CTRL-R again so recordings resume. You can do this from time to time during a transit or no action time so you are sure that you won't miss a big moment, or you just start it when something happens.

Keeping both recordings means you have your cockpit action with sound and coms from the team but also external cams for editing a video later on.
