Sketch Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I'm not the best pilot in the world, but I do practice regularly. In this video, I show off some of that practice. I don't win every engagement, but at least you can see my thought processes behind my maneuvers. By all means, I'm open to suggestions and improvements... and thanks for watching! 2
JG13_opcode Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Great videos. One suggestion for future commentary: I know when I was very new and learning, the one thing I wanted most but found hardest to get was the "why" of air combat. A lot of it is unintuitive. So for example, during your LaGG fight when Mopsy goes low after losing sight of you, I think it would be a great teaching point if you talk for a bit about why you chose to stay high, such as "it lets me trade my altitude for added G capability later if I need it" or whatever. Not every move has a Eureka moment, but I think it would be a big help for those of us who aren't uber leet dogfighters/duellists to hear the pros talk about, say, why they chose lag pursuit instead of lead pursuit in a particular instance, or why they went nose-to-nose vs nose-to-tail after the merge. Things like that. I liked it, for example, when around the 12 minute mark you said something like "I can see he's stalling which means he's as high as he can possibly go". When I was a big noob I would have loved as much of that type of commentary as I could get, because to me that was the hardest part. What to do when you know he's at the top of his arc? Well you can go nose-low too, etc. Edited November 16, 2016 by JG13_opcode
E69_geramos109 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Good video. That kind of things will help people to improve a lot. In that kind of combats is difficult to explain why you are doing all moves.
