I wish WoFF went significantly on-sale - Is suppose I've gotten used to it being a fairly standard industry practice to have fairly large sales. I expect that, even with the price reductions, the game plus its new expansion might end up being something like $80 USD. I'll wait to see what the combined price would be. It feels like a lot for an improved 22 year old game engine (and it still won't have Floatplanes!). But I probably should try it someday.

Same as I me myself... I always felt attracted by those "Wings over" sims. "Over Flanders Fields", "Wings over Flanders Fields" and "Wings over the Reich". They even dare to launch a 100% Battle of France add-on... who they think they are??!! 🤣

 

More seriously, as a 2D flat-monitor-intended simulator, this game is very appealing.

It sounds like the next patch will be a DLC though - so if I wanted the complete package... it'll go back up to at least $60 probably (and may well be something like $80 if the WWII DLC expansion prices are anything to go by - $110 CAD when factoring in the exchange rates). I can't help but wonder if it might be more profitable to sell more copies at a lower price? But I'll assume they know their business.

 

Anyway, there are a lot of AAA titles which are only a couple years old that I could get for a third the price (because they go on sale after a certain amount of time)... and after getting burned a bit by Third Wire / First Eagles (having to buy everything again for compatibility with 64 bit processors and also lacking flight model updates to limit sideslip). So I'm a bit hesitant about small teams reworking older game engines generally... if I could try a demo that might change - but I'm just explaining why I never picked it up.

Curious what their next DLC will be after the Belgian Air Service Expansion, seaplanes? It’d be great if another map, set in a place other than the Western Front, was added but I’m cool with whatever we get.

Hey Commando, do you have the exact URL of that source? 'cause I looked for the info on the OBD Software Facebook page and didn't find it. Their Facebook gave me the impression that OBD Software, in WOFF, really improved the existing clouds... but not that they have implemented TrueSKY.

I still love flying WoFF... the amount of flyable aircraft, the improvements that keep coming year after year, the great career set up that really makes me feel involved with what happens in my squadron etc... it's far better now than the original Over Flanders Fields, and I'm astounded that Pol and WM can keep making it improvements...

Correction, the comment was from the WOFF Facebook group and not the OBD Page. In any case, it apparently uses TrueSKY shading and rendering but not TrueSKY clouds. Like I said, its probably an older version.

 

The new expansion was released today if you want to see for yourself 😉

It's mostly a 2 man team aswell @GOA_SinVaselina_VR  It's amazing what they've done and still continue to do with the CFS3 engine.👍

That's crazy, the graphics really have made a massive jump with those clouds - did i read somewhere that the clouds are the same type as the ones used in Clod?

Very cool pictures, seems they made a lot of progress.

 

I liked WOFF a lot and still like it.

Storyline, aircrafts, motivation, AI are pretty cool.

It's some what less steril in comparison to FC.

 

But I cannot imagine 2D any more, flightsims and racing mean VR for me nowadays.

You have to admit, those clouds are a huge improvement, plus, the game looks much lighter now... I always thought it was a touch too dark.

If you want new clouds you have to pay $49.99 for the expansion, otherwise you are stuck with the game version from May, 2024. Apparently, expansion is the same thing as patch for OBS Software studio.

If you want new clouds but you do not own WOFF you have to pay $44.99 for the base game and $49.99 for Belgium expansion even if you are not interested in Belgium theatre of war.

Expansion isn't the same has a patch..4 new flyables for a start,

 

There's sims that charge £30 upwards for 1 craft? Remember this isn't a large studio it's a 2 man team.

Yeah WOFF doesn't have the FM of ROF, FC but it's still an absolute joy to fly.
