Lieutenant Harry Bellingham 5 RFC flying out of Abeele Aug 1915.

Another recon mission this time with Sargeant Peter Cutting and his Obs to photograph Troop movements...

There's a bit of cloud up i hope it won't hamper our mission

Archie opens up on us and i struggle to maintain my height and keep my wings level. But manage to get my camera working..

Both make it home unscathed and fingers crossed that the photographs taken will be of some use.

Mission a success, 2 of the photos were good enough..time for a good stiff drink in the mess

Hi Scram , it’s pretty straight forwards pal just make sure you pack your necessary equipment before taking off. Make sure you know the key commands beforehand also either know or keybind your bombsight/ camera sight view, there’s a recon wars readme file..check map and use TAC if you require to find the exact target area. Enjoy pal.

I often wonder what it is that makes WOFF's terrains so convincing to me. I'm tempted to affirm that they look much, much better than what we have in both our combat simulations...

Your welcome pal, Yep it’s incredibly immersive. VR would be a game changer I hope one day it could be fully implemented like the guys here have done with FC and the Box series.

Coming from a guy not that addictive to VR , I buy this the minute they implement VR.

WW 1( great war) airplanes is just awesome in VR. And this game seem to be right in my alley. I just do not have time to fly much, so I fly VR when I do

Gotta say I'm pretty disappoint in the game. I've had it two days. The first day it ran fine. The second day it crashed. Now I look around, and there is no easily found support email listed anywhere. Not very good customer service. I wish I'd known, I would have stayed away.

SimHQ my dude - they are very active there.

Here ya go, Pol was helping out just an hour ago:

https://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/374/1/wings-over-flanders-fields-technical-issues

Secondly, did you bother to even look through the support page?:

https://www.overflandersfields.com/support.html

Everything is listed there including (if you actually read it), the direct support email as well (It's found in the PDF FAQ that it asks you to read and mentions as including contact info).

Maybe next time check that sort of thing first before just coming out and p#ss#ng on them for lack of customer support as they are not the slightest bit lacking.

What you meant to post was you didn't read the FAQs.

Yeh, yeh, we know you've finally gotten it sorted. But your frustration and characterization of the WOFF two-man team being "not very good customer service" was BS.

But reading stuff is so tiresome. Why can't things just work without any research? I mean, this is the internet! It's the 2020's dudes! We shouldn't have to do anything. Does anyone read e-books? Lol of course not. It's too hard and a waste of time. I'm getting tired and grumpy just re-reading this load of crap. Let the bots do it. That's what they're bloody for! I just wanna hit a button and presto stuff just happens.

Hello everyone!

I thought that I’d come here before I went to the SimHQ forums in case it’s an easy answer. Anyway, what I was wondering was which regional activity setting is realistic? I currently have it set to medium with no forced encounters, and I’m confident that my computer can handle the heavy setting, but I don’t know which would be the closest to historical activity.

If anyone could shed some light on this I’d be grateful.

Thanks,

Winkysmith

I think how it works is a circle around your airfield that flights can spawn from, and it gets larger the higher the setting. So basically it’s just how much of the map is active, I guess highest would be more realistic but your moving around so little anyways it’s not a big deal.

I asked this question a while back when I was trying different settings because the performance was so bad up higher settings and they basically said they’re aren’t any pcs capable of running the game at very heavy. It kinda pissed me off because why even have that setting then lol. I guess it’s so they can back the claim of 250 planes in the air or whatever it was.

Hi all,

Considering buying WOFF BH&H II.

Question - a few years back I recall a statement that said snap or fixed views from the cockpit were limited to forward, back, left or right. (possible CFS3 limitation?). Therefore folks who wanted more then these snap views and only had a keyboard and basic joystick were highly recommended to invest in TrackIR or maybe a real good joystick with a good hat switch.

Was curious if that is still the case in WOFF BH&H II?

Thanks in advance - jg123410

I don't think so, you can use the mouse for isnstance to move the view

At $45 with 80 flyable planes WOFF is great value. Many of the planes will never be seen in any other combat flight sim. Very good AI. Fokker DIII, EI and DVI.

I bought the ww2 defence of the reich

Not very much planes in it. And I can’t get the controls set up properly. I fly it in my No vr rig in an island house we own. My Virpil controls are recognised but throttles cannot be set.
you can assign the finger slider , all other than throttles

and I can’t find inverted function because all are going the wrong way.
is ww1 sim control setup same way?

@drewm3i-VR I didn't want to take the main IL2 VR thread off topic, but was interested to ask you based on your response in that thread (see below), if you had tried WOFF with VORPX?

I can't bring myself to fly on a flat screen any longer, but have always been interested in WOFF and wondered if VORPX might be acceptable there.  FYI - I don't have VORPX and am using the Pimax Crystal - so if you haven't tried WOFF, do you think it is even worth exploring based at all on your VORPX experiences since it seems that 1946 was bust for you?  Thank you!

I cannot say for sure, but it should be crap in vr.
albeit looking as 3D it is not. It is a huge undertake  making a 2 D sim 3D and attempting to skip that will only be sorrow

I really don't think you will find that it works very well. Best bet is to get some of the scripted campaigns for FC and some of the graphics mods, but I'm sure you know that ?

Thank you, I appreciate the response even though that's what I was afraid you were going to say based on your experience.  Going to go crank up FC again now - even without the lauded WOFF campaign system and AI, at least the graphics are stunning for VR in the Crystal.

I've also had a not so great experience with vorpx and 1946, so I wouldn't hold out much hope there. Fingers crossed the devs consider adding VR at some point.

The game engine is about as old as IL 2 46 I think graphics are based on open gl

I am by no means an expert but look at clod. They are many and some very good coders and 3D artists. They still struggle after years

Not an expert either but counterpoint, the Falcon BMS team did it for free, and that game is older than either of them.

I have the most enjoyment in this sim than any other WW1 sim ( old or new ),hands down. It has loads of flyable aircraft to fly through the entire war starting in 1915,A Dynamic campaign, and a very realistic reporting system for aircraft shot down(having to have witnesses to your kills and at times you will not be credited which is how it was RL) and even transfers. Its also neat to encounter famous aces in their historical operational areas.  Graphics are more than adequate, the only real disadvantage is the old MS combatFS code and how the planes fly (kind of feels like flight physics/drift are  underwhelming at times) but the AI is top notch and very deadly if you make mistakes and do not constantly check your six.

I am really looking forward to the Belgian DLC addon coming and the Morane-Saulnier N which I do not think I have seen in a sim since Red Baron 3d!

Some would argue about graphics alone but graphics do not amount to anything if the AI sucks and a sim is missing other important features. With a new generation of kids embracing new games with 16 bit style pixel graphics, the graphic argument holds no weight. Game play and fun factor has always been most important and both games deliver that (il-2 1946+AT mod) and I think WOFF graphics are great as is.

In my opinion this is the best WW1 sim going atm in terms of content, realism, and the full Falcon BMS style single player campaign experience.

It's a sim built with vision, which is something we haven't had in a very long time.

If the flight model was up to date, then there would be zero point in messing with GB at all.

They add VR yet? As cool as Woff (and whatever that BoB one is) looks it may as well not exist to me if its 2d only.

Holding my breath, if Falcon BMS can do it for free (among all the other incredible things they've managed,) then frankly no one else can make any excuses.

If only it had MP I'd have bought it years ago.

I have 2 VR headsets so its not like I am against it but the fact is VR is still mostly a gimmick just like the nintendo "glove" was back in the day. Most games for VR are very short. I tried VR is DCS and it was a big pain in the rear to set up and I do not like wearing a big bulky hot headset for hours (I have waist length long hair as well and do not enjoy being a hot mess after an hour or 2 of use) When they can put VR into a lightweight set of glasses with the same panorama view as a full headset I may change my mind but the only real game I enjoy in it is VTOL and not for very long. I tried Il-2 in it and it was amazing feeling like I was in a real cockpit but its very hard to see your physical hotas controls and virtual controls like VTOL are unrealistic and totally suck.

I have track IR 5 too which takes far less setup time and works just as well. After many years since they hit the market, most people do not use one much less can afford one. It also takes a lot more time and money for developers to put into a game. VR is what killed an early title I bought into (Combat air patrol 2) and it was not part of the original mission statement. The move to put VR in that sim killed the dynamic campaign development which was why 99% of people bought into it and it eventually got abandoned because of it which pissed me and everyone else off.

So VR is not a deal breaker for me. Its great to have but my headsets collect a lot of dust mostly.Facebook also hijacked and ruined Oculus by forcing people to have an evil social media privacy rip off account just to use it. The steam version is also not worth the price tag and imho is behind in tech by requiring receivers. The Oculus Rift S was my favorite headset as everything is built into it and it works perfect and is far better than the Rift 2 but Fakebook hijacked them as well by forcing a SM account on people.  Suckerberg can shove it .?

Good morning, i've a question.

For buying i read you must own combat flight simulator 3 only for license but it's not necessary for install and playing WOFFII.

It's necessary the license or not? When i install WOFFII i need a key of CFS3? Or i can buy WOFFII without CFS3?

Thx & sorry for the question.

I wonder if the announcement below brings any hope of VR for this developer.  Based on everything I have read over the years about this series, I am pretty sure I would buy everything they produce if there was a decent VR version.  Also, the older graphics wouldn't be as noticeable in VR has they likely are on 4K monitors.
