Next to killed is a sniper 47-y.o. Mickael Skillt, who is fighting in the "Azov" nazi batallion. Kemp, please, look at the emblem of Azov, and then to emblem of 2nd SS Division "Das Reich". Then look to my eyes and say "There are no nazists in Ukraine". :)

Crimea is an autonomous republic.As such it has its own parliament and constitution. The parliament voted for joining
Russian federation.IIRC from 100 MPs ,98 for and 2 didnt vote (maybe were not present). It declared one sided independance
from Ukraine - same as Kosovo did vs Serbia. Nothing new on geopolitical scene. Then RF parliament (Duma) voted for
accepting Crimea as part of Russian Federation.

Crimean Tatars have also their own parliament and they are represented in Crimea parliament as well.

Crimea has always been part of Russian Empire since they pushed Ottomans from there in late 18th century.
It has been administratively/politicaly given from Russian Socialist Federative Republic to Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1954 by Nikita Khrushchew.

In those times leader of USSR,who was ukrainian by birth.Gift to his fellow countryman.

An example to show how different the Ukraine is in its many areas. Last year I have visited Zakarpatska Oblast with the group of slovak military pensioners to celebrate "The day of partisan glory" public holiday.It is
the SW part of the Ukraine with cities like Uzghorod,Mukatsewo.It is geographicly separated from the rest of the Ukraine by Carpathian mountains.

Zakarpatya was part of Czechoslovakia after WWI,then taken by USSR in 1945 after WW2 ended. Some people dont care much about whats going on in the east of the country,as they always felt like the part of the west (they are mostly ethnic Ruthenians with significant number of Hungarians) and their sentiment is more about joining Slovakia/Hungary or at least get some more freedom on our Schengen borders.Some of them are completly opposite,like few older ex military guys I met,serving with goverment army artillery unit, with strong anti russian sentiment.Stories they told me and photos they showed me from Donbas left a strong sign of horror in my memory.
I saw and met personally young guys in their early 20s who participated in conflict on Donbas.They looked all at least 15 years older. They didnt participate voluntarily.They were drafted in several waves of mobilisation.They dont understand why they had to go there and fight for smtg they dont believe in nor care for.
 

Ukraine is a difficult country to grasp.Limiting the problem to "russian bear eats you all" is quite disrespective.

I could hit the same button and say that we Poles have long tradition of welcoming Russians on our soil, even though they are rarely invited guest. But to be fair, you guys are going far too deep into this. This is game forums and we should avoid discussions like that. First four pages of this thread were reasonable and polite, but now it turns into typical political brawl in bar. Time to lock this baby.

MH17 was shot down by a 9M38 missile launched by a Buk, brought in from the territory of the Russian Federation

Yes but Trump doesn't come from the same gang that's been running things since before and after Kennedy. If Trump doesn't play ball I doubt they'll last long. He'll either be assassinated or have a "heart attack", or maybe his plane will "crash" in the Katyn forest ;)

I was mostly referring to my previous point of people often seeing things that support their own beliefs while being blind to other signs. For example telling how nazis are slaughtering innocent civilians in a conflict with no Russian involvement and bringing up a symbol of one unit as proof while being blind to other symbols. Just a prime example of what I was referring to.

 

Another thing, if I knew nothing of this conflict at all, the hysterically over-emotional one-sided description of nazis vs civilians, slaughtering, burning alive etc would already ring so many bells about objectivity that my ears would hurt.

Wow, looking some opinions here looks like Putin`s propaganda machine is working very well. Bit surprising.

 

But I hope this thread gets locked, nothing good will come out of this...

 

Edit: And I was surprised about Trump`s presidency also. Let`s see how that goes

So which stocks do I need to be buying right now?!

 

After thinking about it I suggest buying stocks in American companies that sell these :D

Some of you would be less surprised if you looked into who the Clinton's really are, and what they've really done, along with the Bush's - they're part of the same thing.

Along with many others in government and elsewhere.

Just like in 1938, 1939 and beyond, when the Nazis were doing horrible things, when whispers of it were being heard, people didn't not want to believe it even when someone

tried to tell them.

That's the mechanism you see that allows the evil doers to exist and do horrible things...when you hear the truth, you won't believe it. (not talking about you specifically)

But that's the mechanism. The truth is out there, not even well hidden, it's just dismissed by many, or due to confirmation bias they refuse to listen, or due to normalcy bias

they refuse to believe that such things are even possible.

 

Trump, while flawed no doubt, is at least not part of all that. Bad things might still happen, but it will be because of reactions by the above people, not because Trump

is going to start the war. The president is a figure head people - he doesn't run the country. It's about time everyone got a clue about that one.

 

...and yes we knew Robin was full of $hit last night about the stock market. :)

I knew that Clinton`s were not liked among people and reasons for it more or less. It still was surprising to me that Trump got elected so clearly. Well, interesting times ahead at least.

Ok guys, I'm going to close this one so it doesn't get out of hand. Technically we should not be having political stuff on the forum even in the free subject area. But it was a momentous day so I allowed some fun, the memes are great. I enjoy seeing different viewpoints from around the world. We're all, well mostly, friends here so let's get back to flying, pretend fighting the WWII air war and complaining about bugs and FMs.  :salute:
