Jason_Williams Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Our elections have become about personalities and not issues. Until the roof collapses, which it's hard to imagine how it can get worse, we will continue to be sidetracked by stupid shit and pay a huge price later. We are so horribly divided it's scary to think what might happen a little further down the road. The seeds are already planted. I love my country, but it's in long-term trouble no matter who is president. Buy more copuies of BOS please so I can finish my bunker. :-) Jason 10
DD_Arthur Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Buy more copuies of BOS please so I can finish my bunker. :-) Jason Big lol . You know I was going to post a big long thing about the US election, Brexit and the state of the world.....but I just can't be arsed. I think I'll just fire up BoS and rocket the crap out of some poor, unsuspecting train instead. Ah.....much better...... 3

It's all just another form of "entertainment" now. Watching election coverage may as well be watching Entertainment Tonight or reading stupid Hollywood tabloids. It's the culture these days. Being ignorant is something people are proud of for some reason.
Falco_Peregrinus Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) Always thought that democracy is, well, overrated. But, at the same time, I still think about studying Tocqueville during my wonderful university times whenever I think about the US of A in these circumstances. And, well, to be honest, while remembering about my studies, I actually still wonder more about that blonde beautiful girl who I had a crush on though... =362nd_FS=RoflSeal Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) I think at the last minute so many people will choke on the idea of voting for a woman that they will end up handing their country to an oafish autocrat with no respect for the principles of democracy. As if Hillary has any principles except whoring herself to Wall St and the Gulf States. Trump became rich by building a company hiring thousands of people Hillary became rich by selling America's secrets. Edited November 8, 2016 by RoflSeal 1

=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Either choice is bad, dont see a point in arguing here about who is lesser evil guys. Frankly I'm happy that I dont have to make a choice, though I regret participating in last year Parliament elections in Poland which left us with some weird situation. It seems that for some reason its becoming popular to send weird and bad people forward for representatives, as if there werent enough good people around.

216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Not so sure about the foreign policy Meister. Mainly Clinton supports heavy intervention in Syria and ultimately changing the government (as if the lessons learned in Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan back in the 1980s went straight out of the window), and above all she wants to paint Russia as the enemy of America and of Europe too. Trump on the other hand wants to join forces with Russia to tackle the Syria problem, which to me is more sensible. Of course, neither have a track record of delivering on promises and being consistent, but if their campaign is anything to go by a Clinton foreign policy would be a disaster for Europe and the Middle East. The EU-Russia pissing contest would keep going, both parties would continue to suffer economically and the Baltic trio of minnows would keep saying they are about to be invaded by big mean Russia and urgently need more tanks and more troops and more aircraft to be parked there for no good reason. I'm no experienced diplomat but I know that stationing troops and military equipment has never really helps calm tensions - on the opposite, it always leads to endless escalation. It gets tiring to be in Europe and constantly have to hear scaremongering about evil Russia driving all the way to Portugal. Right now we need a calming influence between the US and Russia. Though Trump is a complete loose cannon, it is very much certain that Clinton will push (who knows if successfully or not) for bigger antagonism with Russia, and more involvement in the Middle East, no least due to her Saudi connections who would love to see Assad gone. 1

Tektolnes Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 RIP the Republican party if Clinton wins. Trump is going to go to town on the GOP establishment if he loses and it'll be a bloodbath. Used to be a fine conservative party and looking at what they've been reduced to is incredible. They've put forward literally the worst candidate I've ever seen a major party in a developed democratic society nominate. He has basically no redeeming characteristics whatsoever and would make a terrible president. And there's no way back for them given demographic trends in the US unless they drastically change their approach. And they brought it all upon themselves at the end of the day by allowing the crazies in their party to dominate the message and drag them down a road that they knew they couldn't afford to go down. 1

No_85_Gramps Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Some very interesting reading in this thread. I've always been somewhat amazed with how Europeans show interest in, and are quite knowledgeable, about politics on this side of the pond. Perhaps if our own population took that much interest we wouldn't be in the mess we are.
SOLIDKREATE Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 It's a process we hold dear and have shed blood over.
Gambit21 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 (edited) I've been a sort of "Democrat" my entire adult life, but still always held some conservative views, pro-military as well as other things. To be most accurate, I'm an issue by issue person, not D or R, Liberal or Conservative...though registered as a Dem. I did vote for all Dems until this election, I was a delegate for Obama...because I always thought I knew what was going on in years past. My bad. I was fooled. The Clintons are part of the same syndicate the Bush's are...the Clintons are gangsters in every way the world applies...and worse. Obama is at least aware, if not part of it...again, I was a delegate for the guy. If I'd only known then what I know now. It's absolutely sickening what they've done, and likely will continue to do. The power they wield is disturbing, to put it lightly. I'm not going to get into it here, no point. There's plenty of links and sources if one really wants to research what our government really is, and who really runs it...and what they've been doing. It's been that way for a long time it seems. I voted for Trump not because I think he's a good candidate, he's made a joke of himself in many ways, and of the Republican party, but I know who DOESN'T own him, and that would be a start at least. I will never again after what I've learned identify as either a Dem or Rep, liberal or conservative. I just want the good guys to win, and they are on both sides, just as the evil doers are on both sides. If you flipped a switch and burned each one...our entire government would disappear more or less. Sad, scary...hopeless? No...there are good forces at work too. I just hope they prevail eventually. I will not be fooled anymore...I'm awake. I've always been somewhat amazed with how Europeans show interest in, and are quite knowledgeable, about politics on this side of the pond. Perhaps if our own population took that much interest we wouldn't be in the mess we are. Exactly - our population can't be bothered for the most part. They know who our leaders our, what's going on over here. Ask 10 Americans who runs Canada and see what happens. Turn on the BBC News for an hour, then turn on CNN for an hour and you'll see a stark difference...that's part of the problem. Edited November 9, 2016 by Gambit21 1

Please. I'd encourage folks to learn a little bit about what the millennial generation represents on the whole and in actuality instead of what we've been called repeatedly and incorrectly. Yeah there's some silly in every generation but we may not be what you think we are. Really good article I read not that long ago here: https://bornagainminimalist.com/2016/10/17/the-gaslighting-of-millennials/

BraveSirRobin Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Never been happier about not having any money in the stock market. It is going to get ugly.

Gambit21 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 We're all more the same than we are different - always a good thing to remember on days like this.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Trump has already won....tomorrow the 'pundits' will all be in shock. Many polls were rigged and weighted to undersample certain demographics. told you all :D
