Shepherd Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Hello pilots, is there any source explaining the function of it? The Il2 BOS manual does not say much about it. When I am flying a bombrun at autopilot, the bubble is always shifted a little bit to the underside of the aiming view even when I am flying at constants speed. This counters my understanding of an acceleration bubble. So is this a bug or do I understand something wrong? Nevertheless I am able to hit targets quite precisely ignoring the bubble. Any info would be appreciated... 1
Monostripezebra Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 no, all is fine.. it is just a spirit level helping you to see if the forces from movment or acceleration have swung out yet... but as for precision you allways want a stable long final run on target, it doesn´t matter that much.
Shepherd Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 But this is exactly the point of my argumentation: As soon as I have reached my constant approach speed, there is no acceleration left! So why is the bubble still shifted then?
JimTM Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 In another thread, my guess was that the bubble is to level the bombsight before dialing in the settings, but there are no leveling controls in the sim.
Shepherd Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 So it is just eye candy without function?! Good to know, thx.
Monostripezebra Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 yep, while it can tell you when not to drop, but that is an almost useless function, so it´s pretty much eye candy, it seems.
