=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 What do I have to do to an aircraft to make the game or server register as a kill? I have "shot down" a couple of planes on WoL that when I watched them go into the ground, I was convinced I would be credited with a kill, but no message saying "Spaceman1999 killed ______". Is this a me problem or a game problem?
ACG_pezman Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 I think it's a bug or the criteria for getting a victory was changed. I have noticed the same thing on WOL but it's not a huge problem. You know you got the victory, dude knows you got the victory, so it doesn't really matter.
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) I'll do a bit of testing with a friend today or tomorrow. We'll see what does or does not count. I have noticed that losing a wing counts, while shooting up a water or oil system and watching the enemy hit the ground, does not. (In my short experience, at least)It's just a thing that makes me happy seeing that message. (egocentric but... hey, I like see that I caused a crash or removed an enemy threatening a position) Edited November 5, 2016 by =DF=spaceman1999
coconut Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Server load plays a role. After a number of players / AIs are live, notifications become delayed or dropped altogether.
AstrixAU Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) Sometimes when the server time runs out and it doesn't end all the stats in the game reset but it all registers on the website. When this happens everyone on the scoreboard will have 0's even though you know people have been shot down the time will usually be 0:00 as well and can be like that for ages. deWaardt Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I think you only kill people if the pilot dies. Otherwise you "Destroy" them. Damage model is quite dodgy when it comes to ground impact, lots of crashes that look like they should be fatal, aren't fatal and the pilot survives, thus not "killing" them. I have been "destroyed" quite often, but still flew the plane home. I've also went in nose down at 600km/h, only to bounce a couple of times and slide to a stop. I've also noticed the game has "assists". I'm not sure whether they have been in the game longer, or if they're something new, but I completely shot up someone's plane, and they go down sometime later, but after I landed and looked at my victories, I saw 1 "assist". This doesn't count as a kill on the scoreboard.
Czar66 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I believe OP meant 'kill' as a broad meaning of 'shot down', not exactly pilot killed.Happened a couple of times (maybe?), but it was me that was shot down. My enemy got my engine smoking and heavily damaged wings and I ended up kissing a tree with loss of airspeed and instability and no 'shot down message'. I did let him know about it on the chat like I did some other similar occasion. Engine smoking, engine died before I got to home base, no kill/score credit for my adversary.
Y-29.Silky Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 while shooting up a water or oil system and watching the enemy hit the ground, does not. (In my short experience, at least) The main kill credit is usually whoever does the most damage to the engine (which might explain deWaarts scenario). You can receive kill credit even 10 minutes after your shot them up because that's how long it took them to belly land, hell, I've brought my damaged plane home, landed, and they still got credit for shooting me down, but as my pilot survived, I didn't get a loss, they got the kill, so it was kind of a win-win. If you test with your friend, I would do one on a Summer map, and another on a Winter map. Something is funky with the land on Summer/Fall maps. You can crash land at insane speeds and still survive while on Winter maps, you'll explode into a fireball.
