Casper23 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Hello, I want to play IL-2 only for multiplayer mode. Should I buy BoS or something else? Which one has most online users? Also can I active a key which bought from G2A on Steam? I found this: https://www.g2a.com/il-2-sturmovik-battle-of-stalingrad-cd-key-global.html
Guest deleted@30725 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Multiplayer is pretty tough in this game. There is a noob friendly server that seems to have a fair amount of players at least when I play GMT+0 and the other two populated servers (60+ players) that use manual controls for engine, etc are fairly well populated. It's not populated like a AAA mainstream release, but there are plenty of players for a good time. The missions involve capturing points on the map via ground or air forces so bombers and fighters can be used. I think if you buy from the official website you get everything unlocked which makes weapon options more fun in mp though there are no plane performance mods. If price is your only motivation for getting the game then maybe you need to re-think why you want to play. War thunder is a good arcade flying game that's free.
Finkeren Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 It doesn't matter if you buy BoS or BoM, since it's all part of the same game and most servers use at least some planes from both installments. As Bunny said: MP can be really tough for a newcomer, though it's worth it in the end. Don't expect to have much success at all if you jump right into MP without learning at least the basic stuff first.
[TWB]80hd Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Join a squad and enjoy You can see who is looking for pilots here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/17-virtual-squadrons/ Every Friday night there are a pair of awesome missions put on here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/25955-quickie-flights-nov-4th-1900-utc/ (Highly recommended, always a good time, if you don't know how to fly a certain plane make sure to let them know) Wings of Liberty and DED Expert usually have players on them, and when TAW is running it's awesome... Don't be shy, jump on TS, ask questions, shoot people. 2

It`s pretty cheap now, if you wait for a sale you might get it even cheaper but directly from the website shop. You then will be able to play online with both the folks owning BoS and BoM, just not use the BoM aircraft.
Czar66 Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Go for it! It's tough indeed. Have on your side good literature of air battles from the eastern front.
DeafBee Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) I play only multiplayer and for that this sim is truely amazing. The Wings Of Liberty is my favorite server, since it shows where you are on the map. That will help you concentrating more about fighting/bombing and less about navigating. The servers objectives are great too. Edited November 5, 2016 by 19te.Deafbee
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Not entirely sure about the Q but if you are going to buy between BOS and BOM you should go with BOS. In general it has stronger AC for both sides.
DeafBee Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) Best thing is to join a Sqaudron and use Team speak. Then the multiplayer part really becomes fun. I made a small video from my Sqaudron on the Wing Of Liberty server, which I think shows how fun the muliplayer part in the game can be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUnQxsg-TH4&feature=youtu.be Edited November 6, 2016 by 19te.Deafbee
