Rigsby Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I have purchased the CH throttle quadrant and I am having real difficulty with the CH Control Manager software. Why is there no videos showing you how to configure this like with most products? All I want to do is assign the throttle to use key combinations from this game, because if I try to use the throttle directly in this game it hangs. Please give me a link to a video or could someone please explain in simple term how I am suppose to place the key combination in the CH Control manager Software. Thankyou!!
Panzerlang Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I nearly went for one of these on eBay (2nd-hand), assuming the software wasn't strictly necessary. Doesn't the game recognize its buttons and axi natively like with the Saitek stuff?
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I have one of these and love it. No need to use their software at all.
Bando Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) Well, mine does (working without any extra software). I do not need any extra software. The game recognises the throttle without any difficulty. I only installed some CH software to make sure it was all calibrated fine, but haven't touched that in a year now. So I think something in the hardware or the usb connection is off here. Hope you can fix it. Edited November 28, 2013 by Bando
No601_Swallow Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Should do (although I have Saitek ("They'll get you through the next week and a half" ) quadrants). I'm slightly flummoxed by the fact that some actions you can assign to axes in other games can't be assigned at present in BoS. That together with the automation in the 109 leave my quadrants a bit underemployed.
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Yes I only have 2 axes on the TQS for the Messer (throttle and brakes) but once we can turn off the auto there'll be rads and mix as well. On the LaGG I have 5 assigned so far (throttle, prop, brakes, 2x rads) but also find the buttons very useful for lights, nav lights etc.
YoYo Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) I have it. My setup: first 2 - oil and water cooler (all engines) next 2 - I leave it now the last 2 - for mixture (2 engines - separate) Throttle I have on TH Warthog (2 engines - separate) Prop (all engines) on the Slider on Throttle of TH Warthog. No601_Swallow Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) I've just got the throttle, prop pitch and mixture on one three-lever quadrant, and I'm waiting so on the other one I can assign elevator trim and flaps and gear (on my spiking-like-it's-the-end-of-the-world-so-I-might-as-well-use-it-as-a-chunky-binary-lever). =38=Tatarenko Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I have flaps on an up/down button on my TQS because that's how it works on the plane but things that can break my plane (gear etc) if deployed by mistake I keep for the keyboard so I don't hit them inadvertently. Elevator trim in the messer seems to work best with an up/down button as well. Anyone know what the correct Flossenstellung for take off and landing should be?
Rigsby Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) I managed to set it up, but say I set my CH quadrant settings say to throttle forwards. When I exit the game and restart it, the throttle and some of the other controls have changed and are in the opposite direction, so it's like throttle is back to front from how I set it. I then use invert, but as soon as I restart the game it again goes back to front again? Edited November 28, 2013 by Rigsby

Everytime you realunch the game you have to uncheck the "invert" for your throttle, apply, go back to game, check again the "invert" and then it should be ok. Edited November 28, 2013 by SYN_Ricky
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 You don't have to go back to the game. Just uncheck and check then hit apply.
Rigsby Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Good to know this is a bug I thought it was just my game. Thanks!!
Rigsby Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Talking of bugs, why does it say I am not allowed to start a new topic in the bug section?
Capt_Hook Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I use mine in conjunction with a WH throttle, similar to YoYo above. The WH throttle is an awesome piece of kit, but only has one slider and it's in an awkward position. I've got the right two levers set as trim (elevator and rudder), middle two as prop pitch and mixture, and the left two as water and oil rads. Not all of these work yet in the sim, obviously, but it also does duty in IL2 1946.
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 29, 2013 1CGS Posted November 29, 2013 I have one of these and love it. No need to use their software at all. True, but the software adds a lot of nice features, such as printable maps: Oh, and as for BOS, this is what I have set up so far with my Throttle Quad:
hiro Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I learned how to set mine up at the CH hanger forums http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/forum/43-faq/ also if you are using the CH manager software, d/l the latest version for your OS off their site. but also you don't need the CH software to calibrate it, the game should allow calibration for I/O device that it detects. but the CH software allows fine tuning
kestrel79 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 In most WW2 sims I use my throttle quad levers for prop, mixture, water and oil rads, flaps, gear, ect. Stuff like that. As for the buttons below I try to associate the buttons below each level to eachother. For example the switch below my mixture lever will turn auto mixture on or off.
