SCG_motoadve Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Does full screen gives more performance? I have not seen much of a difference. What is the advantage of full screen (because it looks the same either way)
Finkeren Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Running in windowed can sometimes create some strange graphical issues, especially if you run Windows in a different resolution.
Jade_Monkey Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I vaguely remember reading that you can't use two cards in windowed mode (for those who use SLI CFX). Im not sure if that is still true or not.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I started using it in windowed instead of full because that's the only I can exit the present version without being stuck with a black screen in my win 1o Pro :-/ But honestly I didn't notice any degradation.
LLv44_Damixu Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Full screen is normally a better performing state of a game to draw graphics more effectively with full performance compared to windowed mode due Windows operating system's other routines have higher priority loop taking processor time away from the game and graphics drawing clock time. Of course sometimes there might be issues on game's DirectX optimisation, other software's interference or defective display drivers, that might cause to avoid full screen mode temporarily in order to have functioning game. 1
Guest deleted@30725 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 In win 10. No, have it non full screen because it gives random graphics slow down and sometimes won't exit game, goes black screen desktop and basically locks pc.ctrl + alt + delete not effective sometimes. Performance is no change for me. I solved all my issues this way, except my game skill. That is something windowed mode is no help for.
ACG_pezman Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 If you alt+tab out of full screen and then close il2 from desktop it won't send you to black screen.
YoYo Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Does full screen gives more performance? I have not seen much of a difference. What is the advantage of full screen (because it looks the same either way) According official data +10% and I think its true.
216th_Jordan Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 If you alt+tab out of full screen and then close il2 from desktop it won't send you to black screen. this. Game also runs alot smoother for me in Fullscreen mode.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Just for curiosity sake, what's the state of the art Nvidia Control Panel settings for IL2. I have a GTX 960 4GB card. Presently I only set the graphics options from withing the game menu, and in the Control Panel make sure "single display performance" and "Prefer maximum performance" are selected. With AA set at 4x, and no SSAO or HDR, the latest version I installed show a bit of poor Antialiasing... Not that it matters that much to me, but would like it to look better. Without using Nvidia Inspector, just the Control Panel, and without reverting to DSR, what would you recommend ?
Trinkof Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Tried almost everything... Without nvidia inspector you will not do more , even with a sweetfx with fxxa and smaa enabled. Sparse grid supersampling is one of the best way to get rid of aliasing. Dsr works also but eat a lot more perf on my rig than Sparse grid
Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 @LAL_Trinkof, thx, will try with SGSS using NI.
YoYo Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 @LAL_Trinkof, thx, will try with SGSS using NI. Use it. I use it (x2 SGSS) and it looks better now (and x4 in IL-2 settngs). 1
YoYo Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Thx YoYo. Np. Example of this settings: Edited November 2, 2016 by YoYo
SCG_Tzigy Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 When using native res, i get little better performance and fewer stutters with full screen unchecked. But have not retested after last couple updates. With NCP, i use adaptive vsync, and leave AA and AF off... (max setting in the game minus HDR and grass) Best visuals (looks awesome, no alias, no jaggies) and perfomance mix for me N. Inspector enabled spRse grid ss 2 made far shimmer nonexistent but not worse 5-10 fps hit for me
KoN_ Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) I started using it in windowed instead of full because that's the only I can exit the present version without being stuck with a black screen in my win 1o Pro :-/ But honestly I didn't notice any degradation. Same here . Win10 There is a thread on the NCP and IN SGSS x 4 some were . Edited November 4, 2016 by II./JG77_Con
kestrel79 Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 full screen unchecked gave me much smoother gameplay, but it's been a few updates since I tested.
SCG_Tzigy Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 full screen unchecked gave me much smoother gameplay, but it's been a few updates since I tested. same here, just retested interestingly, with full screen checked, i also get lot of tearing, like if the vsync not working arttifact (have vsynch off in game and on adaptive in NCP)
Dakpilot Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Adaptive will turn off Vsync if FPS drops below refresh rate to help with performance, Personally I have never had satisfactory benefit of adaptive in BoS/BoM, (different monitors may have varying results) If you use windowed mode, built in Windows Vsync is used ( when at native screen resolution, or as long as game and desktop resolution match) so you do not need ingame or NCP Vsync, this can give better performance and latency (again a little bit monitor dependent) Cheers Dakpilot
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 S! Never had any problems with full screen, both AMD and nVidia GPU's. So using full screen.
