SCG_motoadve Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Love the clouds in IL2, even better now that they can be at different altitudes . Only disappointing one is overcast setting which is weird, and the rain effects, quite poor. Hope developers can give it some thought and improve it.

I particularly dislike, that overcast always involves perspiration of some sort. But you have to remember, that rain/snow effects were never a planned feature of this sim and was thrown in during beta, because the team had time for it. I seem to remember (correct me if I'm wrong) that the devs are planning to add a rain effect to the canopy at some point after the shift to DX11.

But all the precipitation is strange too. 2

Guest deleted@30725 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) I fix the effect by this simple bit of real life coding. Sit at computer. Go to shopping site. Purchase indoor portable shower: Take gaming seat Take joystick, cover in plastic. Put on waterproof suit Put pc infront of portable shower. Sit in portable shower. Load IL2 Start favorite mission in overcast day. Turn on portable shower. Now you can feel simulated 'real' rain. Enjoy il2 in the simulated rain. Effects almost feel real, like the real thing. Note, for added effect buy portable fan and blow water around as if in storm. Remember - If you crash into the sea in summer mission in il2 you must have full bath of water nearby to jump into. kissklas Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Brilliant! Also, for winter missions, build a pit from a freezer! XD
Urra Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Brilliant! Also, for winter missions, build a pit from a freezer! XD Freezer would be full on while flying and intermittent while taxing? That could work if someone figures out how to auto adjust temperature dial via altitude of aircraft.
Uufflakke Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Well English is a second language to me. Btw: Rain is totally God sweating, so I wasn't wrong... A little déjà vu moment... http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/891-my-i-request-one-friday-updates-some-weather-pictures-or-inf/?p=16861 I remember because untill then I have never heard of 'perspiration' and 'precipitation'. And what is the difference between 'perspiration' and 'transpiration'? Oh well, that is off topic.

Transpiration --water released from plants partially for cooling, Perspiration --- water release from mammals through sweat glands for cooling ------- sorry couldn't resist
YoYo Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Yea... I like this new clouds effect but Id like to see more dynamic weather and snow/rain also. Maybe after Dx11? Edited November 2, 2016 by YoYo

I honestly don't know what it is that makes me confuse perspiration and precipitation. It's not like the words even sound that much alike.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Truth is that even comming from the civil flightsim world, and being a long time member of the beta team one of the most well known weather injection products on that side of the sim world, I really find the way IL2 BoS / BoM models winds, turbulence and variability / shear much better than on most of those sims.... Agreed, and to me they only need to model overcast conditions better and will have the complete weather set very well done.
Nil Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I agree as well , I am very impressed by the weather in this sim, seems so close to reality!!
6./ZG26_Emil Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I guess it's changes since the patch but I thought this looked really cool. It was/is going to be my next project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GavSWRKsiA
