Bullet smoke and fuel leak effect are waay overdone

Many say this is the best sim for WWII.

Something I see since the first time I played BOS.

Fuel leak its way overdone, too much of a fuel trail, no self sealing tanks?

Also cannot ignite the wing if you shoot at a plane trailing that huge amount of a fuel leak.

All in all I can live with the way they are, but bullets smoke is too much.

Bullets smoke are so overdone, you dont need tracers with how much smoke the bullets have, you see lines of smoke going by you or even looks like if you are firing rockets, when from the cockpit.

Would be nice to see them a bit less of a show and more realistic.

Compare to this WII real footage, this first one is very good.

To be honest i think Il-2 does it quiet well. I assume the pacific video shows .50 gun impacts and not cannon fire. But maybe it is a little to much, it's still not that they turned it into a Michael Bay movie.

Still there are places for improvments. Fuel leaks are in plans (look at DD 120).

A little less would be nice, so we can actually see the tracers.

Which by the way they are the best tracers of any sim IMHO.

Agreed, there is room for improvement in this department!

Those betty's leaking fuel look pretty much like in the game, I donno, more and more varied effects would always look nice

The smoke effect for cannon fire is prety good but in a lot of black and white films you cant see the smoke that good because of the bright background.

Also when german fighters used the "Glimmspur"= a dark red tracer mostly used for nightfighters but a lot used them at day to there is less somke. Also there was a tracer for almost all german typs of ammunition and if someone used only these in his belt than there was a lot of smoke too. Could sometimes happen when the ammunition typ without tracer was in short supply.

look for parts were the background is dark:

IIRC, i read some time ago, that many 110 pilots complain about the smoke oclussing their gunsight in a prolonged burst.
