Sokol1 Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) On top, at right of this Knüppel Griff variation - used in late-war Italian fighters - any know for what is? http://www.hyperscale.com/2016/reviews/kits/p7hg_img_56/fullsize/01_fs.jpg http://www.hyperscale.com/2016/reviews/kits/p7hg_img_56/fullsize/06_fs.jpg Edited October 24, 2016 by Sokol1
Feathered_IV Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Actually, I think its an Italian stick, so that may be the locking mechanism that allows them to fly hands free.
Sokol1 Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) My guess is wheel brakes, operated by compressed air. Similar button in Fiat G.50, Macchi C.205: "il vistoso pulsante sulla sommità attivava i freni in fase di atterraggio." Edited October 24, 2016 by Sokol1
Cybermat47 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 My guess is wheel brakes, operated by compressed air. Similar button in Fiat G.50, Macchi C.205: "il vistoso pulsante sulla sommità attivava i freni in fase di atterraggio." I was thinking it was for rockets, but that seems more likely.
Feathered_IV Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 So its not the top of the pepper grinder then?
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 My guess is wheel brakes, operated by compressed air. Similar button in Fiat G.50, Macchi C.205: "il vistoso pulsante sulla sommità attivava i freni in fase di atterraggio." I think that this is the most accurate assessment.
JimTM Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) This site has a close-up of the top of the stick, showing a black button with "B" and the tall silver button beside it. I wonder if the "B" is for "Bomb" (italian "Bomba")? This site has a picture of (I think) an older stick with a similar tall silver button. Maybe that one has the same function as the new one (guns, rockets?). Judging by the following Italian inscriptions below the button, it appears that the button can be rotated to four positions: - SICURA (safety) - S ("singolo" or "single"?) - ASSIEME (together) - D (?) Sokol1 Posted October 25, 2016 Author Posted October 25, 2016 In this version, used in early-war (G.50, C.200, 202...) the big top button is wheel brakes, confirmed by this article: image upload no size limit The lever in front is the trigger for machine guns, the top of grip rotate for select fire mode: - SICURA (safety) - S (sinistra - left) - ASSIEME (together) - TUTTE (all) in the version linked bellow. - D (destra - right) For strange that maybe looks, indicate that is possible fire MG's only in one or other side. BTW - To not to leave the "rule" of wrongs things, the interpretation is of this controls is wrong in CloD G.50, there the top button fire MG's and the lever is brake and no fire modes is included. In this variation of the same grip, the small lever bellow wheels brake button is for drop bombs, seems in LANCIO (throw) position. 2
Sokol1 Posted October 25, 2016 Author Posted October 25, 2016 I asked the kit manufacturer, Maurizio di Terlizzi: "In the late control stick, the upper tiltable lever once tilted can be squeezed in two different clicks. The first fired the machine guns and once fully depressed, fired both mgs and cannons. The B button was to drop external load while the mushroom shaped button on top right was to activate the wheel brakes." 1
