Gitano_Fraile Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Now that airplanes can spotter, there is some event that can be used to indicate the quadrant where I do it. Because the truth, I find it useful to this system, if we need to be looking at the map in expert mode Español Ahora que los aviones pueden spotter, existe algun evento que podamos utilizar para indicar el cuadrante donde lo realizo. Porque la verdad, no le encuentro la utilidad a este sistema, si tenemos que estar mirando el mapa en el modo experto gracias
LLv34_Temuri Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Do you mean that you could get some event that is triggered when you spot an enemy plane/ground object and would also get the coordinates where you currently are automatically? I don't think getting the coordinates is possible. IIRC, there is the OnSpottingStarted event (or some such), but I couldn't figure out how it would trigger something.
WWGeezer Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Can someone explain what the spotter function does? Is it almost like a floating complex trigger tied to an aircraft? If the spotter aircraft gets within a distance to an object than you can trigger an event?
Gitano_Fraile Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 put the radius in which any object that enters the is marked as a radar. I have not found any trigger event, so this system is completely ruled out. I guess this is targeted for Marshall mode, but the truth for 2ww, have a radar in this way I do not like. I guess that will be a matter of waiting until fully completed, the system marshall before issuing any feedback
JimTM Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) Below is an extract from my manual re. the Spotter option in the object advanced properties. The extract includes a line re. the OnSpottingStarted event message mentioned in this thread. Spotter / Spotter Radius Specifies the size (in meters) of a circular area around certain objects that acts like a radar. Mission participants who join on the same side as the object see the area as a dashed circle on the GUI map. Icons are shown for all planes, artillery, ships, trains, and vehicles within the circle, except those objects named "NOICON" (for details, see Hide the Icon and Label for an Object in a Mission (pg. 88)). The icons within the circular area are colour coded as follows: - A black plane icon represents the player's plane. - Red and blue plane icons and squares (for ground-based objects) represent enemy and friendly objects according to the colours that are set in IL-2 Sturmovik under Settings > Flight Interface. For a large radius circle, objects first appear grey and then gradually turn red or blue, depending on which side they are on. This matches how object icons look from the cockpit as you approach them. You can define a radar circle around planes, artillery, ships, trains, and vehicles. Planes have a built-in 10,000m radar circle but you can reduce this radius if you want by selecting this option and specifying a radius. When a player-controlled plane enters the spotter radius, ground-based spotting objects generate the OnSpottingStarted event message and a radio message appears in the chat box. Note: To see the spotting circle and the objects within it, players must do the following: - Run a singleplayer mission that includes a plane for them or select a plane or a gunner position in a multiplayer mission. You do not have to be in the cockpit to see the circle on the GUI map. - Enable the HUD (key for "Show/hide entire HUD") and enable map markers (key for "Show/hide instrument panel, navigation and map markers"). Sim Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Those excerpts are very detailed - really looking forward to your ME manual, JimTM.
JimTM Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Thanks Sim. I learned a lot from reading this forum and from the experience of all the great mission makers out there.
