AFTER PATCH 2.004 Black screen when mission starts

AFTER PATCH 2.004 Black screen when mission starts. The game seems to start ok I was able to get 1 quick mission going by restarting game after patch. After landing I restarted mission and it goes to black screen.

I get that too since 2.004.

 

Never had it before.

 

I am too tired to care anymore about this game.

Your problem is probably due to the change in the mission binary file (.msnbin) format. The binary file is what IL-2 Sturmovik runs. If you are loading a mission that you or some other customer created in the mission editor, do the following:

 

1. Open the mission editor (STEditor.exe, which is in your game folder under \bin\editor).

 

2. In the Tools menu, choose "Convert Missions to Binary in Folder".

 

3. Navigate to the folder where your mission is located and click OK.

 

    The binary files (.msnbin) for all of the missions in the folder are recreated.

Update your graphics driver. By updating I mean clean installation. Do not use NVidia experience or other autoupdaters.They just mess the things. I had same problem with update 2.003 and clean uninstall/install of GPU drivers did the job.

Other golden rules to follow when installing new patch:

1. Before you start,delete what is inside Update folder. Usually there is previous version files and other files that cause trouble from time to time

2. Backup your Input folder. You will save yourself lot of trouble remapping all game controls when installation of new patch went south and changed them.

3. After applying the update,do not run the game directly,but take time to restart your PC

 I updated my drivers and ran the game a few times problem vanished once again a happy camper.

Had this happen several times to me. I think there was no problem the times I did alt-tab (plyaing music, etc), however it was noticeable today. Updated my NVIDIA (GTX560ti) today and I noticed it went away. I did uncheck "fullscreen" though, so maybe that made a difference. Will keep an eye on it.
