Thanks. It was actually IL2 Sturmovik that first got me interested in the subject - when I encountered the Seafires over Okinawa scenario. Never knew it happened. So I started reading around. 

Turns out they never actually flew over Okinawa itself, rather Sakishima Gunto. But I'll forgive them that minor detail

I also loved the Pedestal Convoy mod. Another bad influence.
