Well, I like the allied plane set, would love to fly the typhoon around. But I think we need to work our way through in order. Perhaps the Gustave Lone would be better? It would have a Spitfire, a Typhoon, a B-25 and a Tunderbolt.

Honestly, if you have the time, make a seperate thread I the suggestions section and make a nice full concept. Maybe even some information about planes used in the area to show them that the plane set is valid Edited by 6./ZG26_Asgar

Are the p47 and p51 in the same scale in that pic?

Just curious.

Looks about right to me. The P47 is MASSIVE!

For some reason i have no interest in the p51 but im madly in love with the p47. Its like a keg with 8x 50cals

Too much populated area... devs already stated that our pc can't handle these kind of western maps... I'd be happy with a small western map though... Ardennes? :)

+1 for BoH. Though I think a more interesting battle might be the Battle for Europe 42~45 as it sees the Luftwaffe transition from the offensive to the defensive role and in June of '44 sees it try to support the Wehrmacht after the Allied invasion. That's where lower-alt combat took place with a wider variety of planes. meanwhile i the Pacific, the early years from 42 through 44 sees lots of action for Allied and Axis planes; Army and Naval aircraft of both sides. I refer to the large scale campaigns and battles.

Flyby out

PS excellent plane selection for BoH, btw. I hope someone from DCS is also seeing this. Al lthe world loves a plan-B. ;)

Ok. Sry. I was just making an opinion, and wish. Respect to the accuracy you mention: first, I know BOH was… a sh*tty, but my objective was make this an excuse to use that map in where we can play the (and my lovely) volksjäger, respecting an accurated historical operation map and his airfields, which was in north Hamburg (leck)) and rostock. And in between rostock and lübeck we have the Schwalbe airfield too. I know this maps don’t have mountains or sea battle, but they have volksgägers! Jaja! Some of my links

Volksjäger:

Ar234: in may 1945 an ar234 was shot down in the west of Münster. It is believing that in april 45 an spitfire XIVe was shot down close of hanover because the backfire of an ar234

If you got an idea than put it together, write some idea of campaign (I mean I know events around Bulge but for the sake of seriousness) and provide details on participating aircraft. It looks appealing but idea needs to be polished :)

hey, hames, in 1945 i dont recommend that to you. remember that in early 1944, 3 typhoons where chasing 1 109F over normandy, and when the krakut makes a dive and the british follow him, 1 typhoon lost is tail and aother one is engine, and the old 109 get away. true story. maybe you refear the tempest. okey, my objective on this map is bring tempest and volksjäger

Do you know specifically when this was said to have happened? I've not read a report like that applying to a 1944 operation. Certainly 1942 and 1943 they had some issues with the tail sections (a variety of issues culminating in fatal airframe vibration). The Typhoon of 1945 would be a somewhat different aircraft - four bladed propeller and retrofitted Tempest style tail section. Even the Tempest Mark V would be a refined aircraft by this time being the Series 2 modification with Hispano V cannons and the gunsight projected directly onto the canopy.

Seeing as we're talking about the planset here... I love it. But I'd think that the F.XIVc/e and FR.XIVc/e could be combined into a single type that then leaves some room for something else. A late model P-38L with boosted ailerons, dive brakes, and  would balance out the RAF/USAAF arrangement nicely.

now, where is my lovely volksjäger here?! the entire idea of this map is bring to life the 162, that is very more important than the 262 in  the march-jun 1945 in lower saxony. you can proposal a 1945bavaria map for the 262. and... a Ju188? that is moree appropriated for operation steinbock feb-jun1944 channel map, together with the he177.

+1 for the Mosquito, the Meteor may be going a bit too far but after all Britain invented jet planes around the same time as Germany.

"Meteor may be going a bit too far"

=

"In March 1945 the entire squadron moved to Gilze-Rijen in Holland, and on 13 April moved again to Nijmegen. Finally, on 17 April the Meteor entered combat over Europe, carrying out a ground attack mission near Ijmuiden. For the rest of the war the squadron flew a mix of ground attack and armed reconnaissance missions."

"The biggest frustration for the pilots of 616 Squadron was that they never clashed with the Me 262, or indeed with any German fighter aircraft. They came close towards the end of the war when a flight of Meteors encountered a force of Fw 190s, but they were forced to abandon their attack when other RAF fighters mistook them for Me 262s. The nearest No.616 squadron came to a jet-to-jet battle came on 19 March, when a force of Arado Ar-234 jet bombers attacked their airfield."

you can have semi historical missions of the Meteor III against Arado bombers (and this not real) escorted by Me262  ;)

You misunderstand me. I would be trilled to fly the Meteor, but I did not think that they saw service over mainland Europe during World War 2.

And jet vs jet combat would be amazing.

No disrespect intended guys, but maybe "BoHamburg" (or whatever the preferred western late-war scenario is) deserves its own thread? Rather than the BOK discussion thread...

Meteors did see service in WW2... initially they were not allowed to cross the channel for security reasons.

They were used for 'Diver' operations against the V1's but only had limited success with only a handful of victories compared to the hundreds shot down by piston engined aircraft like the Tempest, Mosquito and Spitfires.

Meteors eventually were used over Belgium territory by late January 1945. They were only used as armed recce and ground attack sorties with 40 odd aircraft destroyed on the ground.

No air combat kills...

Just curious.

The P-47D is an enormous bird compared to the P-51D. It's 4ft longer with a 4ft wider wingspan. It's 36'ft long by 41ft wide.

I always thought that they were kept against V-1s and never deployed in Europe. I guess I was wrong.

Meteor shouldnt be included in my opinion. They may have flown recon missions over Europe from 1944 but in no way were important in any air battle that took place in the area.

Similar thing with the Volksjäger. Prototyped in 1944 only a handfull saw combat in 1945 (most were lost in the events).

Me-163 might be an alternative but I'm unsure about it's service in the Hamburg region.
