Any online multiplayer, campaign, or on-line war (TAW) needs something the Soviets can drop paratroopers, supplies to advanced positions, TAW can use it to great extent on supply missions of all types.  Design one plane, and make small changes and you get a plane for three different fronts, Western Europe, for Allies, Eastern front for Allies, and Pacific for both Allied and Axis.... win win situation as far as I'm concerned and I would buy it the moment it came available.

That's a very great point! Flexibility FTW!

 

Does the Li have the same engines as the Dakota? It seems to have the soviet nacelle-mod anyway.

Li-2 basically uses the same engine as the Polikarpov I-16,  - Shetsov/Ash-62, which bodes well for development
