SCG_motoadve Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 No impressed at all really, I feel I wasted $600. With 8 planes FPS are in the low 20s high teens, almos the same as the 780 it replaced. Any recommended drivers better for IL2 or settings in Nvidia for the 1080? Im in Ultra graphics settings, might need to lower it. Processor i7 4770 (is that the bottleneck?)
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I have 1070 and i7 6700K @4,7 and with 8 planes no problem there. W8 for dx11 in the end of year it should change much in this realm.
Voidhunger Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 i5 4670 with GTX980 and I have almost constant 60 FPS on ultra with 8 single engined planes
KG200_Volker Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Same CPU and GFX. NO! 4770 is not a bottleneck, something is wrong, I play in 2k monitor and have very good fps, I have made my settings in Nvidia Inspector, after many (and I mean MANY) tests I reached a setting balancing between eye candy and best viewing distance. I have 2 tracks in the link for you to test, also my in-game and inspector settings as photos and the profile to load it in inspector if you don't want to do it by hand. The Fighters track is in Stalingrad, clear weather, 12:00, 300m alt, no ground targets. Planes: 8xF4 against 8xYak, both groups novice and default ammo/fuel load settings. It runs on auto pilot. I watched nvidia FPS counter, lowest is 50~. The Bombers track has same conditions with 8xF4 against 8xPe2. Lowest FPS 35 inside smoke trails. When you watch a track FPS are higher compared to live recording, I am referring to Recording FPS not watching the tracks afterwards. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0aztlije7sv7nsx/FPS_TEST_PACK.7z?dl=0
SCG_motoadve Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Thanks, where do I put the tracks? Which folder?
SCG_motoadve Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) Got it, I tested the Fighter track. FPS between 60 and 90 same settings as yours, quite good I think. I do get some annoying micro sttuters though. Is there a way to get rid of those? Edited October 8, 2016 by motoadve
Jade_Monkey Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Try disabling hyperthreading in BIOS. Saved my life.
KG200_Volker Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Oh! Major thing, check out your Gforce experience, if the "Record last xxx minutes" is on, depending on disks setup and some other factors it drops fps and gives stutters. It is ON by default so turn off and check.

I would wait till dx11 hits the street in 2 months. It shouldn't be a waste then.

Any recommended drivers better for IL2 or settings in Nvidia for the 1080? Im in Ultra graphics settings, might need to lower it. Processor i7 4770 (is that the bottleneck?) I have the 4770K with the 1080. Everything maxed out >60 fps. Hyperthreading will just heat your CPU more, reducing OC potential. There is hardly software out there using it anyway (ffmpeg does!) so you better turn it off. The 4770 is absolutely no bottleneck in BoM. It is important that you do a complete uninstall of the driver and device (in device manager) before changing the card. You don't want to carry over old settings in any way. I also don't use geforce experience. I changed a GTX Titan (780 series) for the 1080 and frame rates about doubled consistently in all sims at 1440p. Check for old driver leftovers and previous "optimizations".
coconut Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 For people running Win10, you may also want to check that Windows' own recording is off: Xbox > Settings > GameDVR > "Record game clips..." OFF 1
SCG_motoadve Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Try disabling hyperthreading in BIOS. Saved my life. Best tip ever, made a big difference. Do you guys use SSA and DHR?
Picchio Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 This game needs a benchmark mission so badly. In my experience, a high-density PWCG mission easily pushes the engine into its notorious slow-motion. That's with a 6700K and a GTX1070. HT enabled or disabled doesn't seem to make difference. Haven't taken exact measurements, though.
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 S! Can't complain about the Zotac 1080GTX here, works rock solid. See signature for specs. Not that much different than 4770K.
