LOL Siggi, with the absence of boundary fences or ditches surrounding the airfield, this looks to be a fairly successful way to land in a crosswind, just land into wind as we do in ROF.

I'm intrigued to find out how spawning, takeoff & landing will be handled in multiplayer BOS. No doubt collisions between friendlies will be possible as it is now ROF. In ROF we all spawn in a line abreast, and as airfields don't have runways it's possible just to takeoff in straight line (although some (particularly SPAD drivers) seem to find this difficult enough). Knowing the line players spawn along means when you pick your landing direction you can offset to land on the side of field generally not used for takeoffs.

Now we have 'Runways' they will act as magnets with everyone tiring to Takeoff/Land on it (will we have to taxi to one, or just all spawn in a line at one end?), tiring to find a gap to land in might prove interesting, or even just taking off if someone decides to land in the other direction (or cross runway in Siggi's case).

The previous WWII sims I've flown (Warbirds/Aces High) there was no 'Friendly Collisions', so it didn't matter if someone tried to use the runway at the same time. But how will we handle this in BOS? It will be a bit frustrating if you're trying to land a successful sortie only to have a friendly collided with you in the process (remember in ROF, if you so much as damage the prop on landing your counted as 'Crashed' (or even 'Shotdown' if you've already taken any hits).

How did this work in previous multiplayer versions of IL2?

Don't forget the forces of the snow havent been implemented yet, you may very well rip of the landing gear trying that in deep snow.

Well if you listen to the radio you notice that there are already messages for this (I already followed the given orders and it works). You are ordered to go round and then if you are on the final leg you are either ordered to land or to go round again if the runway is in use already. I think and hope that this is kept for multiplayer. You come in, ask for landing, go round and then go round till you are given clearance. (If I remember correctly you can try this in the relocate mission, when you reach the arifield the runway will be in use. You are ordered to go around, do this, try to land, then you are told the runway is in use and to go round again, after the next round your are given clearance on the final leg)

Starting works the same. You roll to the runway and wait until you get clearance via radio.

That's how it should have worked in CloD, but it was a bit bugged. Most time it worked though.
