Jirokoh Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hi everyone, So first of all, I know a topic was already made some time ago, but it's been some time, and I wanted to know if you guys had heard of any possibilitiy of using the gear VR as a VR displayer for playing BoS?And I know that the resolution isn't the best on the device, but I just want to have a VR experience with this sim !What I was thinking of doing, was just using the Gear for display, and not using the phone's gyros (by the way, I'm using a Samsung s7 Edge) but using my home-made tracking system, which would have the benefit of giving me 6 axis control. So basically my Gear VR would just be a displayer, being passive. The tracker would get all data of how my head moves using the tracker. I hope that's quite clearI've tried a couple of things, using Trinus and some other app, which wasn't quite well, not smooth nor accurate at all. Hope you guys could give me some help :D Thanks!
Finkeren Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I'm not saying it couldn't work. If your tracker already works and you know how to set up your phone as a display, then sure. However, I see a massive issue getting the tracker calibrated in such a way, that it matches perfectly 1:1 with what's happening on the screen. And ofc you wouldn't get any 3D effect either.

That's exactly what I'm asking for, how to do that
kissklas Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) I already did this using the Google cardboard and trinus without 3d. Opentrack with 1:1 tracking. Worked like a charm. Have you tried with or_enable in cfg yet? Edited October 6, 2016 by kissklas
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 You have to have fast wifi, becouse you cant use cable at the same time, yes?

Have you tried with or_enable in cfg yet? Nope, didn't try that, what is it ? You have to have fast wifi, becouse you cant use cable at the same time, yes? Well that's the problem with the Gear VR, can't connect anything to it, you have to go wireless
kissklas Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Nope, didn't try that, what is it ? If you go into the startup.cfg in the games data folder and set or_enable to be 1, that should give you side by side renders in 3d. Try if it works with trinus:-)
Guest deleted@1562 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I tried this in 06/2016 with my GearVR and S6 Edge+ and all the apps for android produced aweful lag, didn't matter if the phone was connected via USB or a 5GHz Wlan. Was nice as a techdemo/proof-of-concept but not playable in any way.
