ThudThunder Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Hello everyone, I love the IL-2 Series, however my computer is getting a little old and I am trying to keep up with the system requirements. I would like to purchase it, however I do not know if I will be able to run it. I have a 3 gHz dual core Intel processor (relatively old), AMD Radeon R7 370, and 6 GB of ram. I was wondering if there will be a performance hit on my system compared to BoS and BoM with the Battle of Kuban add on? If so, will I still be able to run it with my system? Thank you!
Neil Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 As far as we know, there will not be a performance hit . BOK will be a new map with other aircrafts. On the contrary, they will work on making directx 11 for the sim. If so , if they succeed (I hope) we will get improved performance please tell me if I am wrong!
Gambit21 Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 On one hand it stands to reason that as things are optimized, the game will run better. The other side of that coin is that as we progress along and games advance, their hardware requirements also increase. I'm not a developer so I can't begin to comment on what this all will look like in the coming few years with this sim. That hardware requirements get steeper is pretty much a constant though, and games are optimized for faster and faster systems as a baseline. So while Kuban might run just fine, my guess is that I wouldn't count on being able to run this sim in perpetuity with those specs.
ShamrockOneFive Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 It sounds like they are working hard on optimizing performance with more AI operating at once being one of the goals. But I suspect it will shake out somewhere in the middle where the game will run smoother, particularly on newer systems. Hopefully DX11 will net us some performance improvements too.
216th_Jordan Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Well, I'd say wait for cannonlake processors or get a i6700k cpu sometime in the future. The tech is at a near standstill at the moment so if you invest into that some time in the future, you will have a lot better performance for the years to come than it was in the past. Apart from that I think BoK will be equal if not better compared to the game Version we have now (you could just wait and see how dx11 turns out on this engine and decide then).
