NeffevonWilli Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hello, first! I flow the il2 sturmovik long ,long years! In the wonderwoman sight. Cause no money for track ir. Now, i bought il2 bos, got a self build track ir , and i must thank you for this wonderful fly simulation! Now my Question. The contrails of the planes in every Series of il2 disappears in short time. But this cant be original!? The Contrails stay at the sky for hours! Look! The contrails of the planes stay at the sky much much longer! Do you make it cause you dont want to strain the gpu? Thanks for an answer! Greetings from germany!
SAG Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hello and welcome to IL2 were glad to have you! :D Contrails start intermittently at lower altitudes and then they are constant at higher altitudes, they do not stay in the air for hours though
Finkeren Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 The chemtrails stop for a moment once in a while, because the government agents aboard the planes have to change cannisters. Seriously though. I think what caused it is the fact, that when you completely cut the throttle on your engine, it immediately stops generating contrails (not entirely realistic - it should thin out instead of just cutting off) You may be watching AI planes, who use much more violent movements of the throttle than we do, and will often cut the throttle for a brief second to regulate speed.
Freycinet Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 The game engine cannot keep track of contrails for hours, it would be swamped with too much info.
ShamrockOneFive Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 If you watch contrails of airliners flying over your house they dissipate over the course of several minutes until you can't really see them any more. Conditions aloft are important so some days there is less wind and they stick around for a bit longer but not significantly so. Certainly not for hours. As far as the simulation of them... It may be a memory issue of not keeping the trails going for too long but they aren't too far off from the normal processes that go on.
wtornado Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I do not want a fighter to follow my bomber' contrail for hours either.
