High gloss/metallic efect

Hello, I came back a short time to make skins after a long period stopped. I'm currently using the latest PS and need a little help.

 

My skins are getting somewhat dark / metallic / glossy, it may seem cool to metal aircraft but for most made of wood is bothering me. I'll put a WWDubya authoring skin next to mine, it is closer to what I'm trying to make in question gloss / matte.

I need someone to help what parameters set to get this result, thx. Sry for my english

The answer is "alpha layer".

It is made for GIMP but the general concepts ramain the same as for Photoshop.

Awesome Zargos! Do you have any other skin making tutorial? I would love to see how you make your own weathering and paint chipping patterns. I don't like to use the stock ones but I am not as good as others to know how to make my own look nice.

Not yet unfortunately.

I've started to upgrade and old tutotial but I haven't had enough time to finish it yet.
