coconut Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I noticed a while back that on the Normal official/DED server, players (at least some of them) were making an effort to return to base and land after dropping their bombs (those were bombers). There were also dicussions in chat about why people had 0 score despite having killed enemies. The answer was that in other to get full points, you needed to get back to your base and land. I think that's a simple and good incentive to get people to avoid behaving like kamikazes. The problem is that this score multiplayer is only available in the locked normal and expert settings, which typically isn't what I want to run. For one thing, the settings lock the round duration to one hour, which I find a bit short for any kind of semi-complex mission. I while ago I asked the following question: coconut, on 05 Nov 2015 - 21:14, said: Why is there a zero-multiplier on the mission score in custom non-ranked servers? I can understand those points should not be accumulated on some hypothetical gamer card, but we could still have them counted within the mission. It looks a bit silly right now with score screens where everybody has 0 points. Also, do you have plans to let mission designers affect the value of objectives? In a dynamic setup, I can imagine scenarios where a convoy is worth more points before it reaches its destination than after it has unloaded its troops and supplies to the destination. Han: I'm think Points card shold be removed from custom MP after-flight I'm not sure I understood Han correctly, but in any case I'd like the devs to reconsider. I know there are third-party tools to gather stats and compute an alternate score, but those are not really effective in the same way, as I suspect many players don't really follow these stats too closely, at least not while playing. 1
SharpeXB Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I'm not sure that score in MP has any purpose. Not sure why it's there.
coconut Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 I'm not sure that score in MP has any purpose. Not sure why it's there. If the primary objective has not be achieved, the score decides who wins. I just played a round where the score difference was so small. We were all trying to get the last winning point in the last 10min of the mission. It was pretty exciting.
