ShamrockOneFive Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I suspect that may be something to do with you being an experienced RoF pilot. The I-16 is definitely a seat-of-your-pants plane, and having no pitch trim makes landing tricky. As for what people with little flight sim experience should start with, personally I'd suggest the IL-2. Could be! Perspective tends to change when you're an experienced sim pilot and you just do things without thinking. Not a bad suggestion with the IL-2. It doesn't have very many bad habits at all.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 The only reason to own Stalingrad Planewise is the Stuka. Apart from that it's really rather boring. All the BoM Aircraft on the other hand offer unique Characteristics, they are all (apart from the F-2) charismatic and fun aircraft. The 109E and P-40 are great beginner planes that offer your Newbie the opportunity to learn most of the Flying Mechanics and are great little Jabos. Especially the P-40 packs a huge punch. The 110E and Il-2 are great as well and very versatile. And the Ju-88 and I-16 are unlike any of the other ingame aircraft and alway ready to surprise the enemy. Same for BoK. Especially the Soviet Aircraft make it an absolute must. And the A-5/U-17 and Hs-129 offer renewed possibilities once again.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Il-2 or Yak-1 are the most user-friendly to me. Both almost fly themselves!
Porkins Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 If you're trying to decide between BOS, BOM, or BOK and plan on only buying one, I would wait for BOK. It appears to have the most interesting map, and interesting "modern" plane set. I own BOS and really like it, but didn't buy BOM because it felt too similar. However BOK looks incredibly interesting and I probably will buy it. As for starter planes, the Yak is great. I'd also recommend the BF-109 on the German side. I've always thought the 109 flew really well. I would definitely not recommend the MiG or the 190 for a beginner. Very challenging for a beginner to fly well.
CanadaOne Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 The only reason to own Stalingrad Planewise is the Stuka. Apart from that it's really rather boring. The IL2 included in BOS has those sweet 37mm cannons. It's a great plane.
dburne Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I like to suggest Battle of Stalingrad for nostalgic reasons, as it was the first of the three by this developer and does have a really good planeset. Then if you like it and want to stay with it, by all means BoK and even then BoM to support them if you can. I have purchased all three and have not even flown in the BoM map yet.
Matt Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 (edited) I would suggest BoK. Very diverse planeset, which is easily expandable with collector planes. Especially when you consider that basically all collector planes will be usable in the BoK campaign, with the exception of the Macchi and the Fw 190 A-3 (which is kind of redundant, since the A-5 is included anyway). Then maybe get BoM later and you have almost everything covert. Edited November 14, 2017 by Matt
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Once it is complete, I would recommend BoK for new players. It features an interesting and varied mix of aircraft for all roles (including British and American types). Plus, the Kuban map is beautiful. Many things in BoK feel very polished already, perhaps because the devs have gained experience over time. However, I would say that BoS is best if you need something right now. The aircraft on both sides are very strong.
Crazylynx1Paskapants73 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 (edited) Am just scratching the surface of this game but I do love it, BOS is not boring for me at present it looks fantastic in FM models are pretty realistic, I have not ventured onto a server yet as need to get better, only problem I have is head view using my stick is a bit chaotic at times, but I guess that's the level I am at now. anyhow it's fun! CanadaOne Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Il-2 43 has better Cannons and PTABs. And a way cooler sight. And the 41 is faster. I love in my heart for both. You can't have too many IL2s.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I want more stukas tho' as well. A Ju-87B/R and D-5 will do.
