Gambit21 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 2 things... First, does the AI behavior allow for an AI flight to be landing as the player is starting his engine, taxiing, or will they always go into their standard circle the waypoint pattern first and thus take much longer to actually land? I'm just after an atmospheric, immersion effect here as the player is spooling up. Maybe it's not possible. Second, at an airfield with 2 runways, will the AI flight with a 'land' command placed on the second runway still cause a delay for the AI/player flight taking off from the first runway? Seems so, but just checking because maybe it's my fault. That's it for tonight.

I've only been able to get the AI to come straight in once, a long time ago, by placing the last waypoint 3,000m away from the runway. Since then, they always circle first. Gambit21 Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 OK, so I'll forget about using that as an effect, thank you.
unreasonable Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 When flying in RoF career mode, you can make your own flight land straight in by giving them the RTB command. They then individually attempt to land along their original take-off vector. (Sometimes with tragic results ) This is in contrast to the normal AI landing behaviour of circuit and land in order. I do not know if this works in BoX SP since wingmen always die. I am not sufficiently familiar with the ME to know if you can trick the AI into doing this in a mission by another method, either in RoF or BoX, but if there is an "RTB" command you can use it might work the same way.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I have something that works. Ju52 lands while you start up the Bf110. Ill send it to you when i get home.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Here is a sample of a Ju52 landing while the player is turning on the engines. I have it set up so once the Ju52 lands it will be deleted (to save resources). You shouldn't be able to see it without icons. I deleted the rest of the mission items to make it more straight forward Ju52 landing example.zip
Gambit21 Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 Oh Monkey of the greenish persuasion, I appreciate that very much. I'll download now and take a look. I try and learn at least one new thing a night - this will do nicely.
Gambit21 Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 I see - works great. I can't get it to work on a Moscow lake bed airfield, but good to know it's possible on in normal airfields. Thanks!
Jade_Monkey Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) Maybe you can make your mission without the fakefield. If you dont have one, the AI will takeoff and land exactly where the MCU is placed (you can set the orientation). Edit: They wont be able to taxi though, so you may have to delete or deactivate them when they land Edited September 30, 2016 by Jade_Monkey
