Kills marking in Career mode

Hi,

What about integrating kills marking on your aircraft in career mode?

That could be nice to get how many planes, vehicles, etc. you destroyed. I doubt it will be possible in multiplayer, since you are dying a lot, but in a career mode in single player I think this feature could works.

As far as I recall Jason mentioned they were thinking of how to implement selectable tactical numbers for each plane. I believe if kill marks were to become a thing they would use the same technology, i.e. an overlay layer placed onto the default texture by the game.

Considering how each individual aircraft will have their airworthiness tracked and how terrible the average pilot is at landing their aircraft (or is it just me? ), I don't know if this will have much place in the end because the second either the enemy or you get your ride written off or taken away for lengthy repairs, you will be flying on a borrowed plane with no kill marks and whatnot. The revised ground physics should reduce the accident rate but rough handling and bullets will still take their toll.

Perhaps the easiest way to handle it will be to create a custom skin and add the kill markings yourself whenever applicable.

In old Sturm I used to paint small red stars on my Yak-9 myself. In paintbrush or whatever is the name of that windoze default app. After dozens of sorties there was almost no space on the fuselage where to place them :D

Oh I wish I still had some screenshots of my "allstars" yak. It looked hilarious :D

There was an app that was just for that purpose, seemed to work pretty well.

I know, but I preferred to do it this way. It gave a personal touch to it ;)

I was doing the same in my old 109, lol.

Kill markings would be cool. But I really hope they can find a way to include tactical numbers/markings for the planes. As Lucas said, they are looking in to it. Small detail but gives a lot of immersion for the campaign.

Should be doable.  That kind of decal is a known technology that is already widely used.  Beats the heck out of making a new skin for each individual plane.

Yes, CloD uses it. But there were some problems with the BoS IIRC. Hope they can sort it out.

Wasn't this a problem that came all the way down from Rise of Flight?

Considering how each aircraft will be counted individually for the campaign, this should probably be tied to that. It will be fun to work harder to keep your 'lucky ride' in one piece

It's not a 'problem' it's just that this functionality wasn't built into the game engine.

Hopefully the developers add this feature because whilst it'd be useful for kill marks, more importantly it will allow tactical numbers/markings per plane too. The alternative, which is all planes having the same skin, or downloading a separate skin for each plane in the squadron/staffel really isn't the ideal solution.

I would love to have squadron markings, specially in full real servers, kill the lead and make the rest of the flight get lost because he was the one navigating while the others where busy keeping formation and watching each others 6  :good:

But there are no reflys! So we shall see who can survive long enough to get a star-studded plane(Hint, not me).

Devs please do not add in reflys, it would only tempt me to cheat.

If people want to cheat they can always disconnect before they die... self discipline is what is needed!

Personally in RoF I liked making my own kill markings. Something to do between sorties, and not too hard once you have the hang of it.  So far as I know these are anachronistic, but can still be fun.

Shame that the original campaign for BoS did not even let you use your own custom skin.

Meh, hopefully this new career mode allows you to have a bit more choice in your assignment. A good Il 2 pilot should go from a il 2 AM 38(Model 1941) near Moscow to a il 2 AM 38F(Model 1943) and someday maybe an il 10.

I.Ei going from Moscow to Stalingrad to The Kurban to (hopefully) Berlin or Budapest.

If they implement this (which I would love) I would hope that they would do it a caertain way. I would enjoy it much more if we didn't lose our big hungry baby if we got shot down. It would annoy me to much. If they do it so that your numbering and marking can be changed in between sorties then those that would enjoy the thrill of keeping and possibly losing a personalized aircraft could also enjoy it.
