FYI: Upcoming Texas Airshows with Warbirds

FYI for those interested, there are 2 good airshows coming up very soon that feature a healthy number of restored WWII warbirds.  This mainly applies for anybody who's in, or going to be in Texas during October... or those ready for a road trip.

The first is the 32nd Annual Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Wings Over Houston, taking place October 22-23 at Ellington Field.  This year the Blue Angels will headline this show, and it always features a host of WW2 planes as well.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting www.wingsoverhouston.com or by calling 888-4-FLYSHOW. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on show days, but premium reserved seats sell out early. General admission tickets are also available at area Kroger stores by now (website said mid September).

The second is the Inaugural Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Wings Over Dallas airshow, happening October 29-30, at Dallas Executive Airport just southwest of downtown Dallas.

If you don't know about the CAF, it's a world class organization with humble beginnings back in 1961.  I'm leaving a link below to their full history.  From here you can browse around & find information on the October show and others coming up around the U.S.  Here's a quick quote that sums them up:

"The Headquarters of the CAF is located in Dallas. CAF members live in every state and 28 foreign countries.  In 26 states and four foreign countries, our members have joined together and formed units to foster camaraderie and, in many cases, actively support one or more of the classic military aircraft operated by the CAF."  (The CAF operates over 165 aircraft.)

I highly recommend either of these shows for anybody who enjoys seeing, hearing, touching & smelling warbirds up close & personal - as well as in the air!
