Thx for the answer ayamoth89...

That's bad to know :-(

Carburetor icing?  Sounds disgusting.  I'll just have the pie, thanks.

M-105PF,M-63,M-82,AM-35A and AM-38 all have carburetors.

Yep, but the runways are all too short to takeoff with one of those, no matter how I try to... They all have huuuuuge inertia, and problems with the flight model...

But indeed, that's about it - all of the included aircraft models have "injected engines", so, really no chance for carb icing.... I should have thought about it before asking...

BTW: I still think, and defend among the various ( mostly civil ) flight simulation forums and groups that il-2 Battle of Stalingrad and derivatives is the most plausible representation of prop aircraft flight dynamics I have ever used. Regrettably being combat / war oriented put's me away from it :-/

If you can't take of with any of those planes, you shouldn't blame the FM.

Exactly, and... any predicate over a void set is always true :-)

What?? I'm afraid I don't understand what you're talking about.

In short - as Brano said - all Soviet planes in the game have carburetors, Allison V-1710-39 also has carburetor, so for the allied side that's it. DB-610, BMW 801, Jumo 211 all have direct fuel injection - no carburetors. AFAIK carb icing is not simulated, however IMO it would be somewhat tricky to implement (depends on temperature and humidity outside AND the engine RPM/heat output), would add a little bit of complexity, and not much in terms of gameplay.

Btw what has carburetor to do in general with inability to take off? I have zero problem to take any of the Soviet AC into the air, even overloaded.

It looks more like wrong prop pitch setting if you can't take-off.Set rpm governor lever to max.

Jcomm, maybe you should try to take off along the longer side of the runway, not across it. ;)

More seriously, care to post a video or upload a track? We can certainly figure out what goes wrong in your take-offs.

"Carburetor icing" idea  result disastrous in CloD (well, but what is not?)

A 200 m high cloud induce ice, and plane fall like a "ice rock".

Well, it was just a thought, and also a quest just to check if it is included, because I don't have il2 installed right now...

Thank you guys for your answers.

:-)

Anyway I am waiting for the upcoming update to test il2 BoS again, specially because of the announced fixes to gear physics !
