If it's the second then I think the train has already left the station and it's pointless to go into this.

 

And if it's the first then I think it's so far into the future that it's almost equally pointless to go into it.

The USA front was just patrol aircraft looking for U-boats, U-boats sinking ships and landing agents, and an occasional shelling by a Japanese submarine. I think it would be a more suitable subject for a submarine simulator.

We've had this before and Africa won. One doesn't need to vote to know the outcome or the response from the devs. They have their reasons for the theatres they choose and no poll is going to influence it.

TBH, I'd rather not have it just be the USA. Remember, there were plenty of other nations fighting on the Western Front: Great Britain, Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, others that I've probably missed,and even Polish and Czech servicemen.

The one after Kuban is a vision, this is what the dev think they will do. I am pretty sure Battle of Midway will come after Kuban, it make sense , but jumping straight to Okinawa is a big mistake. It simply not wise. In historical sequence New Guinea , North Africa or mediterainian would be smarter. 

We will however not see big heavy bomber scenario over France and Berlin, due to limitation we have in this game, like small maps and problems with a lot of ai in game. This Jason have told us long time ago. So why bother pushing this question.

I find Murmansk , Norwegian fjords and what I mentioned before more realistic, However I think Pasific and VR will be the one bringing the new players into this game

So far, releasing BOM after BOS wasn't chronological but starting with Moscow wouldn't have been a good idea; catching

potential buyer's attention with Stalingrad was ofcourse a better idea, pr-wise.

 

But now that IL-2 is right on track I think that they will follow a chronological path wherever they choose to go, and not go back

in time as it were, so proceed on the Eastern Front from BOS to BOK [and BOM in between], then choose something like Kursk,

then either go South [Hungary 1944-45] or North [Poland] and end in Berlin.

 

Likewise, should they want to go to the Mediterranean, first do North Africa and then Sicily / Southern Italy

I mean, that approach makes sense in every way, you don't go from Berlin back to Barbarossa

 

What I don't really get is why start Pacific right in 1942 at Midway, then jump to Okinawa in summer 1945, better do something like Guadacanal first

before moving North and into 1943 and 1944 anding in 1945?

Just a reminder as it is sprinkled throughout this thread and others; Jason was pretty clear that Midway, Okinawa and a third unnamed title are not necessarily in chronological order.

 

There is room for the "question mark title" to be inserted in a chronological manner. So, it could be New Guinea, Guadalcanal, etc. Or,if they go off the deep end it could be Kursk or Berlin or any other scenario we can hypothesize on (Norway?).

 

Fortunately I have faith in the current leadership to NOT go off the deep end. My bet is a fairly chronological romp through the Pacific, a return to the East for a chapter, and then a new theater altogether.

That's a timetable until mid-2020s at least. That's a long time, and we can have anything from engine obsolescence to WW3 before that.

I have voted for Africa but I would like to see the Bulge/Ardennes map with late war bf109 & FW190, Me262 and Ar234 for axis and late Spits, P38/47/51 for allies

Good thing everyone voted for Africa.  The ONE place we know IL-2 isn't going anytime soon.

While my personal preference goes for a return to the Soviet vs. German struggle, I voted for China because it would be a perfect cherry on the cake to complete the Far East trilogy and at the same time set the tone for the next Eastern Front expansion. It involved American, Soviet and Japanese aircraft, it could cover anything from Khalhkin Gol to the Flying Tigers, and it was a very unique theatre. With Stalingrad, Moscow, Kuban, Midway and Okinawa, we will also have many of the aircraft which participated in the Manchuria battles, so all we'd need is a map.

More Russia for me! I've been loving the Eastern Front scenarios since the Il-2 series started getting me interested in them back in 2004.

The Pacific should be a great change of pace for a while. While I'm not the biggest fan of the Pacific, I can't see anyone resisting it's allure when done on the level of the new Il-2 BoX series.
